Almost every type of shield (5* shields only as I can't bother to speak about other ones) have corresponding type of mob associated with them or a zone/depth you get the idea... Royal Jelly, Tortodrone Shields and such however Dragon Scale Shield doesn't have a mob associated with it I might be missing something but it's been bothering me for a while. Would be cool to see some sort of a dragon miniboss hoarding a treasure in arcade.

Yea I'd be way happier getting a volcanic plate monster than dragons. I'm imagining like a volcanic plate shield with little legs, like a dog type thing walking around, maybe it bites the knight lots of fire and stun and normal damage.

Also, my head canon is that Vana's hate for dogs is actually a really nasty insult at the Kat Tribe. Whenever they'd make raids against Almarian troops, he'd always say something like "It's those wolves again!"
As for the OP, I would be willing to have some dragon-y Chromalisk appear. Some sort of Beast-equivalent to Trojans. Beasts need that kind of help.

The mercurial ooze is just a Quicksilver. They're probably made of magic mercury.
Also, Shadow Lairs are supposed to be dramatic variations on existing bosses. What's gonna be next? Seerus inflicting Sleep? Because I think a lair full of Slumber Puppies, Drowsy Thwackers, Z-Trodes, Darkfang Sleep-cinerators, and all that stuff would be pretty threatening.
