You'd craft it the same way as sprite food. It wouldn't do anything, you wouldn't need it to live, but you could craft it and eat it for zero reason. Logically we would need some animation of the knight consuming their food, and this animation should require the knight to sit first in a chair mind you, because we are civilized.
Food for the knight
Eating too much would make your knight fat.
Eating in combat could give you increased health regen, extra HP or a shorter cooldown duration on your dash ability.
As long as we can use moonstone and valestone I'm fine with that as just a mineral sink
As for healing, someone could just use spare minerals and have essentially endless healing abilities, its also made questionable by the existence of health pills which already serve that purpose (regen is a flat out no, it doesnt exist in game and has no need to)
if this were to be added in like that, knights would need their own appetite bars, but it will break difficult missions such as DaN which are supposed to be played without healing that much
It would be an appetite bar, then. Pears would satisfy your hunger, not stab you. And we are humanoids, and as such, would naturally need food and a drinkable liquid. Parts of both the Atacama and Sahara deserts have not even microbial life in them, because of how dry those deserts are.
[EDIT] Why just sit in a chair? There were, and probably still are, civilizations that sit down off of a seat. There is also food that can be eaten on the go, from sushi to fruit cups.
Nope. Knight just eats small pastries and tea in Haven while conversing. We need to move the game further away from combat and further towards Victorian society. The purpose of food is because you can afford to waste resources on simply pleasure.
Knights are meant for having combat. This is not Spiral British Citizens, this is Spiral Knights. And we need more use for eating than nothing. Unless they would mean doing to ourselves what a Gremlin Demo can just do for us: Blowing us up. We are a humanoid race built around Knights. Battle Sprites don't eat for nothing, and they are mutated ROBOTIC PETS. Even though eating a pumpkin scone in Haven in Monomi's garden would be nice, we need a use for them. And the purpose of food is to KEEP YOU ALIVE. You are a life form that is sustained by food and water, and is treating the Spiral Knights like they are only binary code. The Spiral Order may exist in a computer game, but you shouldn't treat it's members as only bunches of 1s and 0s.
[EDIT] And blowing ourselves up is obsolete, considering that there are already monsters that can blow you up for the sake of using rockets to make stuff more dead.

Hwhat? I dun get hwhat you're tryin' to say.
Please, elaborate on what you're trying to make public to us all on simply having Food Items in Spiral Knights. Are you saying:
- Make Food a necessity for Spiral Knights?
- Give Knights benefits in combat?
- Or give Knights permanent upgrades?
I ask as a reasonable, neutral party. I ask not for any shenanigans from other threads.
it would be a great necessity for Spiral Knights! Thanks for letting me TL;DR it, Rhons!
Forgive me, but despite reviewing what you have posted, I have yet to understand why you would want this idea implemented, given this thread is one idea and you technically completely want it.
Before another clutter of words is posted (sorry if that was blunt), might I suggest a bit of organization? If you're on a mobile device, I have no reason to try and enforce this; if not, perhaps use some of the formatting available for use? I can give you an outline:
< ol > (Means 'Ordered List'; will come complete with numbers)
< li > First Idea < /li > (("li" means List, like a node)
< li > Second Idea < /li >
< /ol >
(Be sure that those codes do not have spaces between the "<" and ">" — HTML had problems with me apparently)
__________
This yields:
- First Idea
- Second Idea
This way, your posts should be easier to read and comprehend, given the appearance of other user's difficulty in understanding what you have posted.
Thanks!
Alternatively, use line indents. That takes no HTML knowledge and literally just requires you to press enter/return twice on your keyboard.
No need to say [EDIT] at the start of every line. If it's an entirely different thought you can just tag it on to the end. When walls of text aren't organized or engaging people don't read them, but when they are organized and/or fun to read, people will read them.
Or just adding an extra slot in missions for carrying food that heals you a small amount, or ad a small bonus. Just a thought! ^^
