After we vote Petater, who controls the energy market entirely like some sort of god, will set the price to whatever the players demand. Since there are rather limited options we'll just average the results.
Energy prices are set by players, not by OOO or GH.
You do realize that GH actually sets the price for CE in RL money, right?
I'm surprised that people chose 5K over free more often than not. So far the average is about 7.1K.

I doubt a single person has control over the energy market. If anything, an oligarchy does; if the conspiracies are to be believed.
There's no "organised market crime" nor single player(s) influencing the market in the slightest bits. There's just lots of misinformed players To be frank the CE price is largely irrelevant, what matters is how far and how fast players get through the game proportional to the market rates.
So I shouldn't sacrifice livestock to Petater in order to get the energy prices to rise? Because they've gone up every since I started doing that which is basically proof.

well, free energy means there is nothing to play in this game, since energy is free and you just buy everything in the supply depot. at that point it's just a number.

Just a note, free energy would not only make the game way too easy and boring, but it means that you can't sell any energy either, whether leftover from supply depot or from cash purchases/promotions.
Free energy means the guys running the game would go bankrupt.

Energy prices used to stay around 5k because that was how much you could make to break even from using 100 energy. Not sure if it still applies.

Running Tier 3 cost you 90 energy. If it was the FSC gate, then you could earn well over 10,000 crowns. Maybe many thousands, if you also marketed recipes that you picked up at Basil.
Also I'm not sure about the core of your idea. It seems to ignore the value of mist energy.
I find the usual explanation more convincing: Not as many players buying energy with real money, so a constrained supply of energy, so those who have it can raise prices.
Few exceptions were introduced every now and then with flash sales/auction house featured auctions/other random and temporary crown/CE sinks. The value of CE is just reflecting the overall usefulness of it over its supply, against the usefulness of crowns and their supply.
So, I've been away from quite a while, I'm a bit lost in recent affrais, who is going to set the price after voting is over and why would he?

Players with over 1000 hours of gameplay, that already have everything that they want, just have a lot of crowns (dont need to be that much, around 2m its a fine number, farming 30k each day for 9,5 weeks you get that, what about years without new content farming) or ofc you can get 20k energy for 50 obamas, sell it and get the 2m crowns.
With that 2m corwns you can buy the cheaper energy at the moment, that will be like 20k energy +/-, then sell the 20k energy with the cheaper price at the moment, but now, it will be more profitable to sell energy, after all, you just buy 20k energy with the cheaper price, after you are done selling the 20k energy you will be with more than 2m crowns.
If you do that right now, you will buy 20200 energy with 2m crowns and get 2.2m crowns selling it, its a +10%, but i already get +27% profit from doing that, with my poor wallet with 0.1m crowns.
That is how the energy price is so high, players with huge amount of crowns/energy are profiting with the energy trade systen, and dont even tell me that 1000+ offers to sell/buy energy at the same price its just a coincidence... I dont look in to it, but i can gess that Auction House is in the same shape...
A good solution its to set a limit of energy trade on market, to buy or to sell, like 5x to 10x each day.
I don't get why anyone, except a person selling CE, would like the price to go up, while it already has. People are literally protesting for the CE prices to go down, and then I see this thread.
I don't think that poll will be satisfying to 'Petater' if everyone votes for 0 crowns, which will probably happen. Also may I know why you want the price to be set high?
