I like using bombs, partly because the bomb armor looks awesome, and partly because the bombs are good for taking out the mobs that get are more dangerous in groups, like Devilites or Lichens. But there are a few problems that I think could be easily remedied:
1) Instead of being a charge-only attack, maybe the amount of time you charge the bomb dictates the size of the blast radius, the power of the blast, and the chance of a secondary effect activating.
2) Why can't you toss the bombs? Having to be near the enemies to drop bombs on them can get dangerous, and the bombs don't do enough damage over a short period of time for that to be worth the risk. Tossing the bombs would negate that risk and add an element of strategy on where to toss the bomb.
I do understand that bombs are situational weapons, but it would be nice to add a little more strategy and use to them.
gremlin demos can throw bombs so why cant we?
