My idea is to make explosive blocks to also inflict weak fire status to any monster or player in the blast radius.
This would make a good reason to replace some of them with new blocks of this type:
- capacitors on shock levels (inflicts shock)
- coolant tanks on freeze levels (inflicts freeze)
- puffball mushrooms on natural maps like Aurora Isles for example (inflicts poison)

I was speaking generally about everything that explodes, not just blast cubes. Also, maybe it's just me who finds them in at least every second level of the arcade.

That's exactly what I would change, and adding the new blocks for the variety.

That could be interesting... I guess.
What would that capacitors, coolant tanks, and puffballs look like? We've always distinguished explosive blocks by their bright orange color and volatility.
Puffballs could be dark green spheres with pulsing green glow, capacitors like high voltage isolators with electric animation for example, and coolant tanks could be cylindrical objects with open tops, glowing swirling liquid inside and mist flowing down on it's side.
To be honest I only thought about the game mechanics and not the actual blocks' appearances. If you try to imagine these, do they look cool?

I don't think that's necessary, and also the regular explosive blocks don't light people on fire.
So you might be thinking, 'Why does the rocket puppy light people on fire?', well, that's because Red Rover sucks, maybe.
