If you scroll down the website, you'll see the link to the "Grey Havens" website.

http://www.greyhavens.co/

Read the description.

"Rather than allow those games to disappear forever, we have assembled a doughty crew to keep them operational for as long as we can."

That's good, isn't it?
But- have you noticed-

"we have assembled a doughty crew to keep them operational for as long as we can. "
So don't you think that there is a SLIGHT chance that a couple years into the future, SK could shut down?

Well, yeah, there's a chance that Treyarch could go bankrupt and totally shut down all of its servers. Nothing's guaranteed in life, So live everyday like its your last! *goes back to wasting his life*

yes

As you noted in the other thread, you're pretty late to this discussion. Before you showed up, Grey Havens described itself as a "museum", which was even more discouraging.

Yes, it is possible that Spiral Knights could shut down in a couple of years. In fact, lots of people predicted in 2011 that Spiral Knights would shut down in a couple of years. But it's still here and still fun (despite some room for improvement).

My advice is to let Grey Havens worry about the future of the game. Our job is to have fun, support the game if we want, leave the game if we want, whatever. Cheers.

Spent around 150 bucks this month on Spiral Knights so I sure hope it stays running for awhile.

i mean

Think of it this way - Spiral Knights would have been shut down had Grey Havens not scooped it up after SEGA parted with Three Rings and liquidized the old name.

Grey Havens has already proven, to me at least, that they are actively working on Spiral Knights. While there may have been oversight from SEGA that prevented taking on certain avenues or allocated resources for different things, under Grey Havens there seems to be a fair amount less of that. We have much more transparency and communication now than we have had for at least 3 years.

I'll happily stick around and support the team for as long as I enjoy their game. It's been about half a decade since I first started playing, and I'm still here to party with the rest of you.

Was there not also a mention

Was there not also a mention by Cronus/Hera that Grey Havens have plans for adding more content into the game?

Maybe in that original Grey Havens thread, I'm guessin'.

Yeah that Grey Havens website

Yeah that Grey Havens website had us all worrying a bit but they proved that they're intending on doing more than just maintaining Spiral Knights. It may also be true for some of their other game hence things could be a bit slow, but there's no harm in taking a break and coming back a few months later to witness changes!

Please add citations

> proved

Please link updates that weren't tweaks to monetization but new gameplay that'd validate people coming back. Just like how that cub guy made SK ded threads without citations, it goes both ways. I really want the GMs to step up and tell us their development for SK if they want to prove they're doing more than maintenance.

Personally not a fan of radio silence and then people arguing why we should shut up and wait for two years, for SEGA to sell SK off SK at the end of it and then be told to shut up about continued vagueness in the future of the game. I'm still used to nick's posts keeping us on page with expectations, so pardon if my lowering of expectations never occurred. And yes, I don't play this game as much or expect much more out of it, hence why I haven't spent a dime in two years. I just don't appreciate systemic false hyping of expectations to re-occur.

Nick's post weren't frequent,

Nick's post weren't frequent, Grey Haven is certainly not hyping anything (unlike Nick did - and failed to deliver - with the arcade redux). They're working at their pace, throwing pleasant updates that have clearly thrown a lot of activity back into the game. You're just an endless pit of negativity, things are looking up right now, it's a time to rejoice, not to snark around.

I like how your go-to for responding to people who try to critique your response is to do a personal attack. One would think trying to find the bad in everyone who critiques ones own response would be a sign of calling the kettle black. I'm still waiting on the citations I requested. Personal attacks to put down citation requests don't work.

Don't mind me, I'm all for a better SK, I do want content updates and gameplay worthwhile to play. :)
I'm for hype, I just don't like players to falsely hype.

What makes you think you're

What makes you think you're in a position to make such (or any) demands exactly? I'm amazed. You're a player, not a stakeholder. As far as the "personal attacks" go, I would merely refer to them as reminders of facts around your generally toxic behaviour around here. I'm sure we wouldn't be able to fit all your demands in a 300 pages (headache inducing) compilation. I'm happy I'm not the one having to deal with all this criticism, I'm sure this must be getting tiring for the actual staff working (likely hard) to satisfy everyone here. I'm sure even if all your unrealistic demands were ever met you'd still find more to complain about; it's never ending with you.

> What makes you think you're in a position to make such (or any) demands exactly?
The fact you're not an employee.

If you make a claim on the forums and you're not an employee, people might rightfully ask for a citation. If it's too much to demand for the proof for why you've said proven earlier, then don't make bold claims.

Yes, I realize it gets annoying to everyone for me to ask similar questions over the course of a few months, in a tone that sounds bitter. But that bitterness is due more in part to the bold claims people make on both ends of the game's direction that I query. The SK ded threads should get as much criticism as the hype threads that aren't directly sourcing employees for information.

I'm trying to ask for citations, not for an attack on people's character, think you can manage such?

very controlling, hmph

I'm for hype, I just don't like players to falsely hype.

Because heavens forbid someone be excited about a game they've loved for years, and take actual changes to the game as a sign that things are looking up for the future.

As for requesting citations on what "proof" we're talking about, let me direct your attention to the announcement subforum.

Here are a short list of additions to the game that show that Grey Havens is still "doing more than just maintaining Spiral Knights":

  • Visual settings, rebranding, and removal of legacy achievements from Steam
  • An attempted fix for the apocrea mission. Made minimap fizzle upon being downed
  • Slime casino added. Additionally old mission shield icons were patched up
  • Discontinuing facebook logins. Originally manual, it was made automatic. Darkfang shields now drop from darkfang thwackers
  • Casino returns, brings legitimate crown sink into the game
  • Several misc. adjustments, biggest being removal of steam region block

On top of that, you can direct your attention to the general subforum, which this thread is posted in, to look for more posts with the "admin" tag on them.

Unfortunately, you'll look at what I've posted here and get upset because I find all the changes I just listed a reason to be excited, hyped, or happy for the game, and the only things you want to hear is that your personal suggestion was implemented. Heck, you'll probably throw the "personal attack" phrase around just because I'm making a post directed towards you that don't match up with your exact personal values.

Or maybe you'll prove me wrong and agree that people can have different opinions on something and that each person's emotions/feelings are their own and not something for other people to police or determine. Fairly simple concept, I would like to think.

@Fangel

I don't consider those major enough to validate people spending on SK. I consider all those under maintenance. Even the casino was in the files for years unreleased, and was viewed as a way to control the economy rather than as a gameplay element. But yes, maintenance does at least show they won't shut down SK in the near future. Thanks for doing the citation job rather than doing a personal attack that thoran does many times.

More like I want a conversation with facts rather than you trashing it with personal attacks every time.
