They seem to drop 3 pages on normal which I think is what they always do. I've been hunting kats on elite for years and so far in my life I've found 0 books.
Normal runs are faster, so I'm just wondering if anyone has a good reason why I should not.
Any reason to hunt kats on elite?

Ive always hunted on elite because its not much slower at all. The book is a 5* material and those should drop more on elite (i think?). I dont think there is actual data on this because most ppl hunt on elite.

You're probably right. I wanted to use normal because the forced fights are slower on elite, but I think what I'll do instead is restart the run when I get into one.

Meh, I'm gonna start doing this on Normal. I thought the drop rate of pages followed the standard 1-2-3 Difficulty system.

As far as I know the difficulty affects the mat drops, too, apart from heat, cr and rarities. Ofc the book is the only mat where ppl would care about this aspect. The 'big' update changed a lot, including mat drops, before that it was guaranteed that the deeper you are, the more chance you had for a 5* mat, not exactly sure if that is still the case, since you can get 5* mats every now and then on d19, too.
The chance for finding a book is so small to begin with, I don't think it would make that much of a difference. Few friends of mine got books on the d19 poison keep from wieght of darkness (some of them on easy).
Still, I do the d24 shock keep on elite from it came from below. At least the occasional boxes which are along the way have a better chance for stuff.

General rule of thumb
If youre going to speed run, dont waste your time on anything less than elite.

For farming Black Kats or finding books?
Sorry to burst your bubble, there's too much RNG and other factors and assumptions to really know.
Personally I do it on elite just in case.

If they spawned/dropped the exact same rate in any difficulty, that would be asinine.
It depends, if the spawn rate of BK is mutually exclusive to the difficulty, then easy would technically be the fastest way to farm BK (given that the pages are all you need), if not, then it is time I stop typing and put the tin foil hat on.
