This is something a friend always talks about, and I totally agree with him.

My mail is full of friend requests. I don't delete them so these stupid people who randomly invite anyone at haven can't send me a friend/guild request again.

Some (stupid) people walk around haven shooting invites randomly(maybe not totally random) at others.

Why? Because it's free, why not? But wait, what if it wasn't?
Then these (stupid) people would stop doing it.

Why stop?
Because most of them are noobs who only want free money in the first place, they can't afford spending what little they got on friend requests.

I'm thinking 100 to 1,000 crowns would be a good range. Or could be 25 same as mails.

If you really want to be friends with someone, they I think you will be willing to spend that much(it's little, really). If you think it's a lot then that's not someone you really want as a friend. Yes, I hate fake friends.

Umm...

An Ignore option is there for a reason, you know?

useless suggestion

Your suggested ignore option is of no use at all.

Because once a person sends me a friend request, by leaving the request unanswered I can stop any further requests from that specific person.

But how to stop the very first request? I'm not omniscient so I can't tell who is going to send me a friend request before they do to stop it with the ignore option.

The reason you speak of is totally different than this, you know?

See it wouldn't hurt to do such a thing, but I would cap it out at 100 crowns per request. Actually, I'd just make friend requests have different cost tiers depending on how many friends you already have.

No friends to 10 friends, your requests are free. 11 to 25 friends costs 25 crowns. 26 to 50 friends costs 50 crowns. 51 to 75 costs 75 crowns. 76 and higher costs 100 crowns.

For the most part people with fewer friends also have fewer crowns, and making friends is an important part of any MMO. We already limit the number of friends you can have, but people sending friend requests often don't ask beforehand. This makes players who do want to be your friend ask about it first, and if they spam you with friend requests you can feel secretly evil for making them waste crowns.

However people have sent me many friend requests, and I wouldn't consider them "(stupid)". They simply like my costume, know me from somewhere, have heard about me, enjoy talking to me/listening in on my conversations, etc. People saying "pls b my frind" aren't usually the type of people I befriend anyways, so it's helpful for me in the end to have these people weeded out.

Why not just an option for "Accept Requests/Deny Requests" instead? They would get an auto response of "That knight is not currently accepting friend requests."

Same could be used for party invites, guild invites, etc. The one turning the option on or off could still send out requests at any time, just not get any notification for them if they're turned off.

100 crowns per request sounds wonderful.

Boop.

I like Grudging or Fangel's idea.
My friend's list is constantly capped at 250, and I try to make room and delete inactives to people who I'll actually talk to or hang out with.
It's very minor, but I don't really want to be friended by strangers in Haven while I'm doing nothing but staring at the Auction House or selling items in trade chat.
