I wanted to go for a full gunner build and i need help with what lines of guns should i take, what sets should i take, what shield and also why do people prefer autogun line over polaris, wont shooting with autogun makes a stationary and vunerable to attacks? My budget is 7500 energy. Thanks in advance
Need help with a gunner build
I prefer solo so shud i go with Sacred Firefly Shade set, blitz and iron slug? Or like you said an alchemer wep, storm driver or hail driver for vana or peacmaker? Chaos cloak or Sacred Firefly Shade, in your guide you said that its a glass cannon set so if i prefer vana run solo which set shud i take
if i prefer vana run solo
Is this set specifically for Firestorm Citadel? You should have said so at the start. It depends on how good you are. If you're very good, then you can do all of FSC quickly with a Blitz Needle and any armor.
In general, there must be a hundred threads on how to choose guns, but here is the summary: You want at least two damage types. Probably they should be non-normal, but there are some normal guns, such as Iron Slug, that are good. As far as styles go:
* alchemers: hard to use, high damage, interesting
* antiguas: easy to use, medium damage, boring
* autoguns: hard, high damage, boring
* blasters: easy, medium damage, boring
* catalyzers: supposedly ruined by the gunner update
* magnuses: hard, high damage, interesting
* mixmasters: [I've never used one. They're hard to get.]
* pulsars: hard, medium damage, interesting; mainly for crowd control rather than damage
* tortoguns: hard, medium damage?, interesting
For armor, I can't tell you any more than my guide already tells you. It all depends on how good you are.
If you want a simple recommendation, I'd say (A) Blitz Needle and (B) Storm Driver or Iron Slug. Not Hail Driver, because it often breaks its freeze. And I'd say (A) Chaos Cloak and (B) Perfect Mask of Seerus or Sacred Firefly Shade Armor. For shields consider Swiftstrike Buckler or Grey Owlite Shield.
Pulsars, interesting? Good joke.
You forgot the tortoguns.
I'll add in the tortoguns. Thanks.
The pulsars have a bad reputation, because so many players abuse them. But in the hands of a skilled, considerate player, they can do things that other weapons can't. You can use them to shape a crowd, for example plowing a tunnel through your enemies. And you can do it from afar. Using them well takes skill. That's why they're interesting to me.
I've done it all... Swords, bombs, guns only and hybrid 4 slots sword/gun/bomb/gun and any combination you can think of.
The only set you need for a gunner is Chaos set alone for your budget. Trinkets and Pet perks will buff your life following Swiftstrike for ASI... Can't stress this enough, to me a class isn't just a class. A class is also followed up with a refined style that makes the user and his/her skill. So here's my take...
My gun weapon of choice would be:
Nova Driver
Umbra Driver
Riftlocker
Storm Driver
Hail Driver
Blitz Needle
What all these guns have in common to me is their damage and nothing more... But if I were you, study more on technique and footwork. I have a couple of videos of hybrid gunning but here's a good prime example what the Alchemer line can do if applied correctly...
Full gunning (I know video says double switching but the correction is single switching...)

Screw charging Alchemers... Waste of time...
Yes, Chaos is recommended by my armor guide (along with Black Kat). But this poster seems to want something more defensive. Because he (or she) is using only guns, he can get offense that is nearly as good as Chaos, with much better defense than Chaos.
Yes, alchemers have great regular attacks, in addition to their great charge attacks. They have a steep learning curve, but I like that about them.
@Nebrium I disagree about charging alchemers, if you can reliably get the bullet to ricochet inside the enemy it will one shot almost anything that it doesn't have a damage disadvantage against, or do enough damage to make it easy to kill them.
Nope charging is always a waste unless you need more mileage for your bullet to hit a further out of range target that can't be reached with a regular shot. It's not a waste for people who likes to waste time and finds pleasure charging every bullet to watch a fired oversized bullet.
I am talking about true efficiency. You'll not clear a group of monsters faster than gun switching. Like any charging ability, it steps down your mobility 2 seconds or more when it's fired. And every charged shot fired is far less DPS than switching. If you're not getting similar results, you're doing something wrong.
I've played Nebrium in LD, we alchemered (and Callahaned) each other to death. His switching speed is about 1.2x as much as mine though, which suggests that Nebrium has some nice, dextrous slenderman fingers.
He speaks the truth, charging alchs is almost always pointless. Unless you take advantage of the camera angle and snipe unsuspecting LDers trying to cap a point. Circle a crowd clockwise and aim at a tangent and you're good
Have you read the Gunslinger Guide on the wiki? It's not great, but it's a good place to start.
For guns I would recommend the charge-oriented ones: magnuses, alchemers, and autoguns. For armor, check out the Handgun section of my detailed armor guide. For shields I would recommend Swiftstrike Buckler (for offense), Grey Owlite Shield (for defense in fire and shock levels), or Dread Skelly Shield (for defense in freeze and poison levels).
also why do people prefer autogun line over polaris, wont shooting with autogun makes a stationary and vunerable to attacks?
Yes, autogun-style shots take a while to get off. But they do a lot of damage --- especially on the charge. It's a question of whether you know the AI well enough, to stay alive long enough, to get the shot off, that kills everything in front of you.
Polaris, on the other hand, does not have great charges. Its regular shots do mediocre damage, but they cause a lot of knockback, which is sometimes useful and sometimes harmful. Pulsar-style guns are really about crowd control, not damage.
