I had this idea when I had filled my heat bar and at the end of the level I just saw it all vanish, because all of my equipment was fully heated, ready to be leveled up, which is hard without the proper crystals. Even more annoying that I was using a heat amplifier, so I lost all of that heat twice.
The crystals we get should be based on the stratum, and the amount of unused heat (maybe numbers could show the collected heat too) would be converted to the amount of crystals.

many thoughts on this
Plenty of people in the past have asked about something similar. Personally, I think we could gain an extra equipment slot with a "heat compressor" in it. Heat compressors would be awarded as you rank up, and basically would eat up heat like any other heatable item. Only difference is once it reaches max heat it gives you a fire crystal of its star rank and resets.
Only problem you have there is people would continue farming the same places for everything - IE, FSC because of the amounts of heat it gives. I'd say to make it have "heat surges" that require you to complete a specific type of level to instantly get 3-15 fire crystals. Would make seeking out certain levels a lot of fun.
I think it is a nice idea, but personally it isn't exactly the best idea at hand here.
Yes, I agree that the wasted heat kinda gets irksome, especially since we have loot boxes with pure heat and after a while of gaming, most players have nothing left to heat.
But fire crystals? Hrmm... It could work, but we'd need another thing to do with fire crystals. Honestly for a good majority of T3 players, the amount of shinings that we DON'T need but have are just obscene.
