As you all can tell, Spiral Knights is an OUTSTANDING game, it has its flaws, but that does not mean its a bad one. The reason I am posting this is because the Spiral Knight's community is nearly dead. Its shameful how such an amazing game like this can not have that many players playing it! So I want every player reading this to go on PewDiePie's latest video and tell him to play this game, so everyone can know about it and play it. I know a big majority of the people watching the gameplay will surely love the game.

Thanks!

Pessimism level restored

It is very unlikely the anyone famous on Utube would play this game, it would be not worth the effort for the content creator of that caliber to cover such a small game in risk of a bad paycheck. I remember a few month's ago an Utuber bad mouthed SK's rampant reliant on cosmetics and they refused to play it on stream. It seems OOO's legacy lingers on and the promo chain have definitely damaged the game's reputation, now OOO is laughing away into the night with GH left to clean up the mess.

Even if everyone on this forum told poods to play SK, our voice will be drowned out by those who want him to play other more popular games. We need to start with smaller Youtubers and work our way up. And if there is any consolation, you can support SK fan art groups on deviantart, and who knows, maybe I will draw you like one of my Fancy French Girls.

Actually

Im not saying there are as many players around as a few years ago. Ofc not.
But.
Many new players occur in the game.
Its just that old players who still play the game see their friendlist empty, and dont try to find new friends.
Thats why they feel its dead.
Its not dead, only the faces are changing.

I think the main reason big-name youtubers don't play Spiral Knights is because it's a five year old MMO. Sure it's cute and all, but it requires grinding. You'd need to have a small group of players all working on their knights together and diving into the game as a squad. Most people watch big-name youtubers play games for their personality, not the games they play, and as such you'd need a fun-to-watch group of people together. Looking at single youtubers won't do the game much justice.

Spiral Knights also suffers from a "i remember it being bad" syndrome. People remember the days of mist, if they tried the game out when it came out. They think "oh that was bad", and don't think about it again. If they come back they'll probably hate the forge, but they won't run into the rarity system's progress wall nearly as fast.

If anything, people should mention that this game comes from the same creative mind behind Slime Rancher, since people already adore that game. We have the same cute aesthetics in Spiral Knights, so I'm sure many people would stick around.

Its not time yet

SK hasn't been developed enough for it to become more mainstream again, there's just simply too little content and too repetitive at this point, plus if you're new doing missions chances are you wont get into a lobby with more then one other person unless you're playing together. With the changes to life sharing, not dropping pickups/vitas, and generally the everyone gets their own drops system, its not nearly as inclusive to parties as it was before when mist was around and that's what everyone remembers. You jump in today and its like, "oh i have to use up this spark to revive my teammate but i need them for myself oh well" or "oh the monsters get harder with more people might as well learn to play solo." In fact the only thing i do see people run together are the dailys at t3 expert so its really only end game players, and vana/RJP/dreams which you kinda need a party to do.

Just like the pets update, the guild halls, the gunner (kinda), people FLOCK to this game when anything new is added but after about a month or so without content people find other games that are updating. The game isn't dead at all and its only slow because its the die hard fans and people who are so devoted to it they want to finish their costumes, or arsenals who stay around past the wave. Once GH gets the back-end problems fixed and has a stable foothold to start development again, itll only be a matter of time until people start playing again, but at this point, even if the server population exploded there is only so much content to keep them around and very little to promote team play.

But Im sure Fangel would have had a much more eloquent way of saying it

Show the game to a friend who hasn't seen it before and ask them how they feel about it. My friend was of these opinions when I tried this-

A) The lag issues are awful

B) The levels are incredibly repetitive and the game is really grindy

C) The plot is really boring

Basic play testing, is the key to fixing the game up a bit.

I don't think this is the solution. Even if someone did manage to get someone popular to play the game, they could very easily say it sucks and drop it, and that would be it.

Personally, I stopped playing because no new content is being released. Anything new (around the time I stopped playing) were things you have to pay real money for, and they were all mostly aesthetic items or recolours... I became interested again because they finally did the gun update, but then that was it... again.

No

I'm not a huge YouTuber, but I do have around 500 subscribers and my Spiral Knights videos got little to no attention compared to my other videos. I do wish Spiral Knights was like how it was community wise in 2011-2012 again.

Slow down...

You're a few steps ahead! GH needs to fix the lag issues first, and make the game less repetitive (please add more rooms to the clockwork tunnels instead of just the boring ones we have now, and i mean common and not rare ones >.>)if we want youtubers to stay, and don't get me wrong, it definitely would help the community by quite a bit.
