im sorry if this is in the wrong section but i just wanted to poke around a bit

im a returning player whos thinking about picking the game up again
ive been stuck at defender elite rank for a bit over 2 years now

i dunno but my gear does not rank up...at all

i can never get enough heat for my gear

all i need is a shield and im set to rank up to whatever comes after defender elite

the grind has been insane and has dulled the game for me

i dont have money to spend on getting heat amps and buying already 5* gear..

is this game still worth playing, like community wise, or is it like dangling on a single thread?

i hope i dont get any backlash because of this post but im genuinly curious. i really love the style of this game and i want it to be good...

If you want the Elite Orbs that everyone wants so much, then do the first floor of Sewer Stash on Elite and repeat until you get your precious orbs!

This may sound dumb, but when you're heating up your gear in the forge, are you always using the 100% chance of success?

i can never get enough heat for my gear

I suggest just running rotting metropolis over and over, and make sure you're running on elite, as Elite difficulty dolls out more heat.

I would never spend my own cash on this game, and In my opinion, I don't think its necessary either.

It's likely because heat itself no longer levels up gear, you have to use something called the forge and fire crystals to level them. And as Fishysh said, make sure you use 100% chance of success.

I wouldn't worry about this too much. Just play the game with intentions other than heat and you'll be pleasantly surprised when your gear are ready to be forged.

The forge make heat amps not worthwhile and buying full 5* gear is from the supply depot is never a good idea.

is this game still worth playing, like community wise, or is it like dangling on a single thread?
You really have to change your mindset of how to play this game now, especially with the change in heating, the forge, and orbs of alchemy.

what i meant by leveling is

what i meant by leveling is that id run a dungeon, or whatever theyre called, and id get like 0 heat. and yes i always go for 100% chance when forging my gear

i guess im just in one of the bad grind spots

also thanks for the rotting metro tip, ill try that out ^_^

also kinda too late on spending money xD ive bought the DLC and a couple of boxes waay back

as for if the game is still worth playing, what i meant was has the community grown at all? last time i played there were maybe 10 people on at any given time and the game was about to die. i currently play a game with an extremely toxic community full of hate, and i always thought that spiral knights had a light hearted feel to it, which is such a breath of fresh are admits all the hate more MMOs come with

also heard the energy market like shot up really bad

hopefully they fix the heat grind at least a little bit.

So you really need to kill everything in a level to get a bit of heat. If you're in levels low in monster count then you won't get as much. Also, the greater the star rating of a weapon and the higher the level of it increases the amount of heat it needs before it can be forged which is probably why the bar increases so slow.

Oh, spending money isn't a bad thing, just don't spend it on the gear for straight energy. Boxes and ok and Operation Crimson Hammer is great (the hammers and dark retribution are good weapons)

The energy market shot up bad because of the lack of crown sinks and the fact that the free elevators means infinite crowns. I'm not the best expert on the energy crisis but I just know it has to do with the huge stockpile of crowns and lack of energy. Apparently one of the big reasons of the energy spike is when OOO or GH...? I don't know which one removed the choice of getting boxes along with energy purchases.

The community still isn't that large from what I feel. However, since the Grey Havens acquisition I feel like way more people have either joined or returned.
