So for a couple years now I've been going out on Halloween as my main Knight, Angel-Girl. As Halloween draws nearer (well I gotta prepare...) I'm trying to remake my costume more efficiently. My Gran Faust was horrid. But luckily for me I got a perfect base wooden sword while on vacation in Tennessee.
So anyway, I'm trying to think of ways to make the pink holographic part of the blade. Last year I used glow sticks only but there was absolutely no design. And it kept snapping off.
I need a good material(s) to create that part, but I'm stumped.
I need something:
-Sturdy
-Not too heavy or bulky
-Things that I can connect, glue or permanently bend to get the design
-Paintable
-That's preferably not cardboard (unless you know a way to really make it work)
Anyone got any ideas?
Heya Angel-Girl!
I also wanted to make a Divine Avenger myself, but never got around to doing it. I'd love to see your Gran Faust revived once more! I have some ideas in mind that might work out:
1. Materials: recyclable plastic transparent packaging/tubes, transparent packaging tape, metal clothhangers, bright neon pink paint
Using any sort of plastic transparent stuff around the house, you could first lay out the shape of the holographic aura of the Gran Faust around your sword. It's up to you if you want the holographic aura to be completely flat or be a tube-like design around your sword. After getting the shape and taping them all together (hopefully the plastic won't be too sharp around the edges) you could twist out the metal clothhangers and form a bridge from the sword to the hologram design. Metal clothhangers are reasonably light and definitely sturdy, which works great for this situation. After fixating the entire thing together and making sure none of it jiggles when you swing the sword around, go ahead and slap on that bright neon pink paint on the hologram design.
2. Materials: Basically the same thing as #1 but pink portable LED lights instead of paint
For this version, it's probably necessary to make the design hollow to fit the LED lights inside it. You can most likely order Pink LED lights online, especially ones that are battery-operated and not powered via power socket indoors. You could probably hide the batteries in the hilt of the sword to preserve the aesthetics of the Gran Faust, and it'll be close to the hands where you can turn it on/off whenever you want. After taping the hollow holographic design, fitting the LED lights inside the tubes, and fixating it with metal clothhangers onto the sword, it should result in a very shiny weapon.
Number one is the cheaper option, but nothing beats a glow-in-the-dark weapon at night :D
Hope this helps!
