Alright, so my last suggestion was about MGS-style stealth. Simple enough.
HOWEVER, I just had another idea. MGR Blade Mode for SK.
Now, the way SK works with monsters is that you beat them up and they disappear, fully intact save for constructs and zombies. poof.
With a perspective-shift function, this could be made a tad more in-depth. Specifically:
-Gremlins holding weapons could be disarmed by slashing at the hands (no dismemberment)
-Zombies could be dismembered several different ways, being able to crawl as a torso if necessary, and being able to function headless
-Retrodes could be dismembered the same way as zombies
-Bombies' fuses could be cut off, at which point they would disintegrate rather than explode
-Gun Puppies could be severed from the ground, usable as holdable turrets for a short amount of time
-Rocket Puppy projectiles could be sliced through
-Howlitzer heads could be sliced through
-Gremlin Demo bombs could be destroyed
-Melee attacks could be parried, exceptions including Vanaduke's mace and other titanic weaponry. This would be interesting for Lockdown, too, albeit occurring when players used a melee attack at the same time rather than switching to Blade Mode.
-Shankle tops could be severed and destroyed
-Guns and Vials could be aimed more carefully in first-person, having an estimator line for single-shots, a cone for Autoguns, and Alchemer lines would have a ricochet-path estimator.
Thoughts?
While the last suggestion has a place in the game, a complete perspective shift is something more attuned to an entirely different game, not our current settings.
As is stands, pretty much every model in the game that you can't see isn't textured. If a first person mode were to be implemented, additional art would need to be made for the backends of these models. You can see this in effect with the throwable pots, as a single line of texture behind the opening on the top is missing a texture behind it, which is only noticeable if you walk above the pot to look at it.
On top of that, additional changes to combat probably shouldn't be done in a hack n' slash. While they cold be really cool for a first person game, when your sword goes chop you chop with it.
I do like the parry idea though. That's something that fits into our current combat a bit. Instead of being a 100% chance it should be something like a 20% chance, otherwise your lockdown situation will have players constantly parrying while simply trying to attack. This would favor the high pinged, as most things do, so it would need to be balanced accordingly.
