After the Casino and guild hall update i thought SK was finally becoming better again and able to bring new things into the game that players have been longing for. But now after updates that were showing a new beginning for SK we a brought back to reskins, not new ones, old ones. Its to the point where i prefer the months of reskins more than this "new" update

Just to keep it simple, the older people in SK wore these early reskins to make them look more prestiged and rich, bringing them back will be so unoriginal and would just make more unhappy. Think of something new please, don't ruin such prized possessions/collections that represent how "old" we are. It ruins the game.

If you want to put new things into the game that have the same colour scheme as an old recoloured costume/accessory, please don't bring the whole thing back and ruin the feeling of pride and prestige for players that have held onto a old item. If anything just make a new box with all the new accessories for that colour like what you did for the Dragon, Valkyrie, devious horns and cat tail reskin update you did, which in my eyes did a lot better.

I like them bringing back past promos. This is in-between content updates, and we're able to collect from a promo that only has a small handful of items laying around.

Some people may have really wanted these items, and now they can get them at an affordable cost. I wouldn't be upset if surge came back as well since it's got an interesting color scheme to it as well.

I don't see how bringing back old promotions with a new twist is hurting anyone's fashion. If anything, it's promoting the fashion. All it means is that merchants who were sitting on these items sat on them too long to sell them for a terribly high cost, which is the risk they take. Three Rings/Grey Havens has already proven in the past to bring back old promos that were desirable, so this isn't the first time they've done something like this.

Spiral Knights is always gonna do promos, and the fact that they're actually releasing Hunter again is a good thing because it's something people actually know of and want. Further, looking good/rich/etc shouldn't be about the base costume being expensive, because that takes the variety out.

If I want to be able to look like I rolled around in month old pea soup, then I should be able to. Hunter came and went, but now that it's back, other people that weren't around then will have a shot at something cosmetic that they weren't there the first round of. Even people that were there now get another shot to widen their collection. This is a good direction; there's enough soup for everyone now.

There's zero wrongdoing in re-releasing things alongside adding new bits and pieces to it. If people are worried that their shiny thing is now less shiny because it's slightly easier to get, they need to reevaluate their stance on things.

Don't be mad at the soup, it did nothing wrong.

Isn't that a large part of their business scheme, what with the super-duper-rare items and the low odds? It's a good philosophy to have I do truly think so, but it doesn't seem to be the one that prevails in our little mmo society.

Ok lets say that you work hard for twenty years and then buy a Rolls Royce with all of that hard earned money. You drive it for a while, and then.. they start mass producing Rolls Royceses out of the blue again, and suddenly everyone and their dog has one.

It's only natural that you'd feel some source of frustration... maybe, you'd even learn not to buy or care about luxury goods of that sort again. That's the real threat with them re-releasing these types of things. When I see that the Rolls Royce means nothing I don't buy the Rolls Royce, or any of the other new sports cars, and the company (in spite of its short term gains) does not perform well.

I would like the company to perform well. Then, they will buy me a pony and some new servers and take me out to dinner and we will be friends.

" I wouldn't be upset if surge came back"

Is there anything that they could do that would upset you?

Nice analogy.

Except it's more like if AAA once offered a free green paintjob for purchasing a membership, and so you went and bought one and had your bog-standard Corolla painted over. And then they put away the green paint for a while but did the same thing again in other colors, and in the meantime there were comparative decades--decades during which people gouged other people for all that they could get for these green Corollas and Camries and Accords and Five Hundreds, gouged them to high heaven at price points reaching past actual Rolls-Royces, just because AAA didn't feel like doing the green again.

And then AAA decided that was daft and dug up the green paint and started selling it outright.

Hunter items are not sports cars; they were never "luxury goods". There was none of the connotations or unspoken promises or--y'know--actual production value which are the selling points of something like a Rolls-Royce. Over time, they might have gained status as artefacts and curiosities--snapshots of the times, for collectors and enthusiasts. But as vehicles of conspicuous consumption? They're just green Corollas.

yes

"Is there anything that they could do that would upset you?"

Putting unique gear behind promo boxes, releasing boxes with items that have in-game defined values for real money, removing one of their servers due to lack of interest, removing the game from steam without a conversion process... And really anything that is a big "no-no" for all MMOs. Luckily the things that make me upset are few and far between, and additionally I can look past them to enjoy the game still.

You have a point, but I was saying that when referring to base recolor costumes, not the flashy models like Storm or whatever. The former is basically what Hunter is, so if people are upset over their specific recolor being non-elite anymore, they're being a bit petty.

I'm kind of glad that SK is breaking that elitism, because all it was founded on was recolors they never released again. Whereas before the transition, they didn't want to re-release as it would destroy the market value of the ones already in play. Liking this version better than the last.
