Title. Wiki says that it takes 200 energy to make a 3 star item. do I have to buy the energy or can I deposit the energy in increments...? I would rather not HAVE to spend money just to make an item.

The 100 mist energy you can have is separate from any crystal energy you have, yes. The crystal energy is the large number on that display.

You can always buy CE from players or the market. Once you hit tier 2, you should be making more crowns than tier 1, and with CE prices so low, it shouldn't be too hard to buy some.
