While adding things to the game would be great, I'm almost certain there is a specific vision of how the developers want their game to turn out. It's difficult to find someone who shares that vision, and thus they really only want people working on the game who share their vision.
So while "more content" is good in the eyes of the player, if it doesn't match the vision of the game then the dev team likely won't want it.
If you really do have the skills and desire to help make something, I'd suggest attempting to start a project of your own. Several members of the community would be more than happy to pitch in and help make a project - it just may take a bit of searching around.

What ever that vision is, continuing it after it got most of the staff laid off in April or May doesn't seem wise.
others have tried, and I can tell you that the forums isn't a place in which you will get official responses, or help for that matter.
currently, I don't think there are any news of jobs avaliable in GH. I know some people who would probably jump on that.
I suggest you to contact support and see what they tell you.
