During the 20% off period.
It's just that the accessory market barely moves now. You have to cater to the f2p to earn more of them worthless virtual fun bucks.
Bravo. Excellent post.
Not everyone has been playing as long as you or are as rich as you lol.
Naw I'm pretty sure the majority of Spiral Knights players are basically clones of Petater, money and all. You're just part of the minority and shouldn't be judging the majoirty like that.
I fee like the reason most of the players are ones that spend is because people don't like how you have to work to get the stuff you want. I also wasn't judging the majority at all, I was just commenting on how I don't think that Petater needed to address the accessory market in that way (no offense Petater). It came across to me as he was kinda bragging but I may be wrong.
@Nuclear-Lynx
Nope we spend to support the game you should do it some time if we spend enough we'll get better servers but we have to spend lots ok?
So you're basically settling for a meagre 20% profit margin that will in any case be cut in half by the 10% Auction House fee? Accessories resellers are playing an entirely different game son, I wouldn't settle for less than 40%. Not to mention it will take quite a while to achieve selling all of these, that's quite a waste.
Seeing the amount of sparks you have makes me think what I'm doing with life.
Ah yes, the wait half a year and spend all your time advertising in /2 experience that necessitates charging 50%+ markup to partially validate wasting your in game time. I should mention I've done the spark thing before, when there was x999 on auction in groups of 10 during the November sale. Yes, it does take less effort to click for 1 minute a day for 50 days than to spend hours hawking in /2 for half a year.
If you found a friend to mooch sell stuff off to for overpriced, good for you. Still doesn't negate the fact the accessory resale market is mostly dead. In fact, it's to my understanding the market for accessories is so dead it's why grey havens won't do a depo sale. It would essentially cannibalize future sales for another year, so they drip feed to the half a dozen desperate people by making them compete for one on ah featured.
Yes, the spark biz is actually more worth my time than trying to deal with pulling a crazy markup on accessories because only one accessory sold every few months a la mattress store guy economics.
Also the 10% tax is reversed before selling (Divide by 0.9, then round up), as sparks at the lowest price are meant to be breakeven with people using energy on non-discount sparks and selling for 0 win or loss, so it's still a 20% profit at minimum, off a 168ke investment, so a free 33ke base minimum profit.
You clearly haven't tried accessories much or are absolutely clueless on how to sell outside Auction House, but most likely both. Set aside this being the dumbest brag-non-brag but really brag post, you really ought to look at the numbers here and start pulling your hair out. 180k CE invested for (mind you in the absolute best conditions) 30k CE profit, with a stock of 10000 items? That's 300CE profit average a day assuming you'll sell 100 a day, and that roughly equates to 3 Vanaduke runs. I mean it's in line with your usual trade habits of buying rarities and selling them on AH for the smallest of profit but even there that's pretty weak. I also highly doubt it's a matter of "one minute of clicking", unless of course you're intending to sell a couple dozens a day only, in which case you'd better hope the game lasts long enough :O; clearly you're hoping for 200 a day so far (giggles).
I don't mean to sound like an arse here but where exactly did you see that the "10% tax is reversed"? Sure you get your listing fee refunded, but Auction House will still take 10% off the sale price, where and how is that compensated? By overpricing the spark 10%? Way to go about commenting on pricing there champ.
I invite you to check the few Bazaar threads that keep track of their sale history and get a better idea of what the accessory market currently is like. I'll drop you a hint: not as good as before, but certainly nowhere near as bad as 30k CE profit in 50 days.
You're falsely assuming someone will intentionally take a hit to sell sparks in auction after buying them from depo. People are selfish and only do things for profit that are worth their time, therefore reasonable to expect everyone to sell for a price that accounts for the tax taken off the price, to at minimum match that of the initial energy cost.
You're thinking I haven't analyzed the accessory market, nor seen the in/out rates, and you're arguing on the tax which is 101 to auction house economics. In addition, sparks are anything but the only item to be sold, like I said it takes a minute a day tops, which I place accessories and other rarities and materials on auction as well prior and after every day.
Like I said earlier I sold 10k sparks within 2 months last time. So there is prior history to base this off of.
So it takes a minute a day tops to list roughly 180 sparks a day, as well as accept 180 mails from auction house, potentially? Get outta here. There's currently barely 5 pages of sparks listed, half of which are set to long time, and that seems to indicate they're not quite going that fast; they're all listed individually too. There's your facts.
An expression of sort, but it takes less than 5 minutes and the ah does eat up over 100 a day. It takes more time to sell fire crystals imho, but those sell too. If you watch the ah you'll see it's 30 pages of rarities listed for a reason.
When hipo and petate are in the same thread you know theres gonna be fire.
Who will win: Acessories or rarities??? Tune in next time for MERCHANT WARS!!
Guys are we really astonished with 10k Sparks...that is literally not worth much, but I guess for the average player it might be worth millions =(
But in reality most of the rich players in Sk invest in the following items:
Large Fireworks, Confetti, Callers, Flares, Snowballs, and Bubbles <69
Oh and Hippo let him make his slow profit while we make our fast money!
@No-More-Starlight: maybe you should stop assuming stuff about me because you are wrong on everything you have said. I do not dislike the majority, I have spent $10 on SK (I know it isn't much but at least I am helping), and since I have spent I am partly in the majority so you are wrong there too.
I am not trying to pick a fight but you are the one who has been judging me (the apparent minority) for just commenting my opinion on Petaters post and nothing is wrong with that. So in my opinion you are the one that is out of place here for judging me.
@Njthug and also:
Brimstones, Vile Seals, Wrench Wands.
I like how it's assumed I'm just doing sparks, when I'm diversified with numerous other items, nor do spark sales consume a significant amount of time.
Or that there's a person in this thread who has spent supposedly 5 digits of USD trying to tell us how to f2p profit in this game.
Thirdly: fine fabric. :^)
When you make a thread about how you are attempting to profit off rarities because you've given up on the accessory market, it's pretty easy to draw conclusions that you aren't "diversified with numerous other items", especially since the ones that generate the most profit and are "diverse" and "numerous" are the exact things you've written off as bad.
I still try selling accessories every day, it'd be bad to avoid testing a market every day regardless. But yes, the accessory market has slowed down greatly from before, approaching the "not worth my time or investment" level. That being said, I do have stock in many different things, including accessories.
Rarities haven't dropped off a cliff like accessories in terms of turn over.
That being said, yes I do have accessories I place on auction every day, it's just valve time for getting rid of them at *appropriate* prices. One can always trash the prices and quicksell for a loss, but that'd be called being a bad marketer.
@No-More-Starlight: Even if you where just playing I shouldn't have started a mini argument about it, and for that I am sorry.
I hope that everything is cool between us and that I didn't start anything :)
I wish I knew how to make money in this game...oh wait I made over 80mil last 4 months just by selling costumes and junk <69 I play the big money game since I enjoy throwing over 10k Ce in the air just for fun!
@Njthug
Good to see a fellow Taylor Swift fan. I mic spammed it on TF2 and discovered she was the bane of 15 year old boys.
@Nuclear-Lynx
Way over thinking it bro. But maybe that's what's cool about you.
Taylor just broke up with Tom Hiddleston. You Swifties can expect another single shortly. Tom wasn't Loki with their relationship.
Thag!!! It's me Marvinnator! Where have you beeeeeennnnn???? Are you coming back to the game soon man?
I've been at home. I will probably come back to the game in about two weeks. Do you have a gmail or something? Just post it now, and delete the post after I get it.
I thought people making money in video games were clever until I did some math and realized you'd make literally 10 times as much with your time spent if you got a job. Any job. It'd be less boring too.
I have a job and I used it to build a new $1000 computer this month, an actual tangible return for spending such unlike what I see in this game.
This game no longer has inherent value for spending real money on. Like, most normal people stopped giving a blank check two years ago when radio silence started occurring and updates became less substantial and focused on people with gambling issues. CE/CR in this game is already worthless compared to real money, if you see us nolifing a market it's because we know this.
Not really seeing why being bored on purpose is supposed to be better. Surely you should just cash out and play something fun instead. Not click away your hours in solitude in exchange for currency of no worth in a game you have no love for. Thousand bucks for a PC and you still waste your life clicking away at some market out of sheer inertia?
Good thing sk isn't just auction house and other pc games exist for the new rig to be used on.
I know that this is kinda meant to be a funny post but not everyone has been playing as long as you or are as rich as you lol. I for one have no sparks at all.
