GH says it was implented into Tier 3 thwacker drops.
It's as simple as that, apparently.
But has anyone actually found or confirmed if this is true?

Paintool raises a valid point. If by now no one has found one from a box then there likely just aren't any. The patch notes have been wrong in the past, and were only addressed after I made a similar thread to this one- http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/100024

Somebody found one from a Gremlin Thwacker today. + 1 DF Shield in existence.
Reliable sources tell me a new df shield has indeed been found. Idk if the person wants to be known so all ill say is that it was found in a d28 danger room, dropped by a df thwacker.
It kinda almost breaks my scientific heart that I have to believe you guys just because you say so, AND NOBODY TOOK ANY PHOTOS?

It dropped, but the player didn't take any screenshots of it on the ground (they weren't someone who understood how rare the item was and likely simply picked it up without a second thought).

Teddy didn't find the shield, but they want to let the person who did find it remain anonymous unless they want to come forwards about it.

But when you give a Fangel several reports of Darkfang shields dropping, they will go on an extensive hunt to figure out what the hay is going on.
Congrats Fangel, you've just solved a years old myth (although it probably only became a thing in the last few weeks), we now know for sure they're obtainable from Thwackers.

Is it possible GH greatly pumped up the drop rate with maybe the latest 'small update' without telling us and now their price will completely crash if they aren't much rarer than let's say a book of dark rituals. I hope not....
I think its safe to assume the drop rate has been increased judging by there being at least 3 finds in the last couple of days.

I wonder if it was due to them fixing the Humbug Hat drop (if it was fixed), since it was also a monster drop. I remember people not being able to find them last year.
RIP Darkfang Shield rarity, you'll be missed. Wish that it was 5* reskin instead of 4*.

So it's gone from the rarest item in the game to the most common drop from the clockworks? Even drops from bosses/boxes aren't this common.
If I was the one to find the first shield I would have sold it so fast lol. Was expecting this situation where the only way someone finds one is if GH made it way too common. Oh well, sucks for those who have the old df shields.

Also, the shields are going up in AH now, I saw 3 of 'em there.
Darkfang Shields have become the new Proto Shields, just a little cooler.

Oh man, I hope so, I spent a long time last year trying to get one of these

At least my gun puppy does have a use unlike your zee core :P
I got 2 today on under an hour of grinding, and while I was heating the first one, at level 8, I got a double level up to 10, with a +25% heat. Can't get better than having that UV. Hot.
One and two. It feels like the shields have the same drop rate as orbs, if not slightly better. Anyways, common drop is common.
And to the surprise of no one, the auction house is still overpriced.

Grargh, are you kidding me?! I've grinded the flarkin' deconstruction zones for about 6 hours in total and still haven't seen a single drop. I don't even want it for the crowns!

There's a very healthy amount of DFS dropping now, and this pleases me. It looks like something that is with RNG levels of possible, but still requires a decent amount of effort in Thwacker heavy levels. It might be on par with Humbug Mask.
Has anyone tried OCH? I myself have been seeking out Decon zones.
I had a feeling something was wrong until now, so I'm glad this bug was fixed so that people can actually confirm drops.
I want to formally thank GH for the fix and take back my bitter commentary.

Tried to got this shield for three days, but only i got are like 200+ fine fabrics, miracloth, silverweave. nothing more. too tired, may be i'm doing something wrong?

Just RNG, took me 3 days too although I've heard of people getting them in just 12 runs of d19.
The d28 beast arena is good, it still has lots of gremlins and at least you can get crowns and radiants too.
Only tried och once and haven't heard of anyone getting one from there but usually see people going for the decon zone.
It seems GH lowered the drop rate pretty significantly. I didn't want to post my farming results earlier because there was some serious money to be had here.
In three days I managed to find and sell 8 darkfang shields (I know, I play this game too much). Now in the last 2 days and counting I havent found a single shield, and the ppl I talk to in-game seem to agree on that GH must have lowered the drop rates.
Maybe those who bought shields were the smart ones and I was stupid for thinking GH would let these drop rates continue. Either way, it seems the days of making a couple million crowns a day are over for me, it was fun while it lasted :P
Remains to see how rare they actually are now (or if all my friends and I just got unlucky the past two days, always an option).
I ran about 5-8 decon zones a day on top of my regular arcade play, always clearing the gremlins and never saw one. I'd be sad to see the drop rates lower again. I really wanted one of theses ad panda
Why would they lower the one thing that got people back to farming the regular arcade for once?
I can't keep track of every DFS shield that's dropping right now, but the statistics are in the AH. If it dries up, then there's no doubt they messed with the drops rates a third time, and they would pretend no one would know wisers because they aren't gonna tell anyone "hey guys, we decided to make DFS more rare, enjoy the game."
I've been running ever since they started dropping, and I've yet to get one for myself.
The above statement is what devs like to hear, because we're still running on a goose chase with no end in sight, and making it rare again would keep their numbers up.
If things don't change for a week to month type basis, we'll know.
A party member of mine got one in D21 Jigsaw valley (from a thwacker).

I grinded the Depth 19 Deconstruction Zones for about a week, then finally gave up today. During a normal Tier 3 arcade run, one dropped from a thwacker in a beast arena.
Guess the shields are sort of like Narnia - you'll only find one if you ain't looking for it.

but i saw Defender Elite Had 3 Darkfang shields he showed me on trade he had equipped one and he showed 2 darkfang shields in trade
