SPOILER ALERT: This event's setting mainly takes place in the mission "Dreams and Nightmares". This takes place after you have defeated Vanaduke.

Merry Christmas everyone! To kick off the beginning of the New Year, Electro Hawks will host a survival tournament on December 28th at 8pm EST and will begin at the Electro Hawks guild hall. In this challenge, you will be assigned in a team of 4 and will descend to the core in the mission "Dreams of Nightmares"

What is Swarm Survival?

1. Swarm Survival is a competition to see who can survive against the swarm the longest.
a. Players will be divided into teams of 4 players.
b. Each team member can only use proto gear: this includes using only proto armor, shield, and weapons.
c. The players will venture to the core and see who lives the longest. You are only allowed to use your emergency revive ONCE ! Once you die the second time, you are out of the tournament.

The winners of each group of four will move on to the second round. Depending on the scenario, special rounds may occur such as allowing you to equip a 3 star shield along with your proto gear. This will make the rounds more intense.

As for the losers: We will have other events going on in the Electro Hawks guildhall allowing you to keep busy.

When we finally have one winner, the event will be over.

Pepperbox Kit: Includes a fiery pepperbox (4 star weapon) and a volcanic pepperbox recipe!
Permafroster Kit: Contains an unbound pulsar, freezing pulsar recipe, frozen pulsar recipe, and a permafroster recipe.

Glacial Mecha Helm
Hallow Dapper Combo
Plasma Capacitator Recipe
Heavy Pulsar Recipe

so Proto Dreams and Nightmares?

This event's setting mainly takes place in the mission "Dreams and Nightmares"...Swarm Survival is a competition to see who can survive against the swarm the longest...The players will venture to the core and see who lives the longest.

So, after players gather in your guild hall, they start the Dreams and Nightmares mission? And they see how long they can survive in Dreams and Nightmares? I was unclear on this aspect of your contest.

Due to how the mission works out, levels can be filled with multiple forced fight rooms, or zero monsters at all. Might it be a better challenge to allow players to do the first two levels in normal gear, and then do depth 27 (static arena) with proto only? Feels more fair since the level is set up the same way all around.

Apologies for the confusion! I was up late last night drafting this and have clarified this in the main thread.

All participants should arrive at the Electro Hawks guildhall at 8pm EST so teams of 3-4 can be made.

When we are ready, all teams will go down to the core and try to survive the swarm the longest.

The longest surviving player of each team will proceed to the second round. Another team of 4 will be established.

This procedure will continue until we have 1 player left standing. Prizes will be given at the end.

I appreciate the feedback on the event and I do understand that knights will not last long against the swarm while in proto armor.

To deal with this, knights will head down to the mission on normal difficulty.

To be honest, Vaelyn is somewhat useful against some of the monsters with her final flourish. I just went down to the core last night and saw her myself.

If we had knights all suited in 5 star gear, the rounds would take much longer to complete. From past experience, long events cause people to leave early. I want people to stay until the end.

This sounds fun, I'd love to participate as a competitor. My in-game name is Ultimaximus.

If someone dies twice, should they leave the party right away, in order to decrease enemy health, or should they stay for the whole playthrough?

Oh, and Fangel wasn't meaning that the competition should all be in regular gear. Rather, he was suggesting that the main actual competition be on the last floor (and only use regular gear to get there, faster), because RNG could make the first two floors much harder or easier for parties.
