If this goes in Treasure Vault, forgive me. I understand that it's about fan-made content, but this isn't the content itself. If anyone has seen Chuggaconroy's Splatoon's LP, I'm toying with the idea of doing something like his series (look it up if you're curious; it's excellent even if you don't like Nintendo stuff).

Episodes would vary depending on my progress. So long as I have new missions which I haven't yet completed, episodes would consist of nothing but those missions. As more handcrafted experiences, I'd probably start getting all designer-y and be picking apart the missions.

Whenever I hit a roadblock (i.e. Hall of Heroes), I'd spend the next videos delving into the Clockworks, rather than ruthlessly grinding boss missions (though I'd do some grinding off-camera). So long as I'm making forays into the Arcade, I'd be doing some combination of two things: discussing weapons in detail and showing off cool Spiral Knight-y things. These cool topics would range from obscure features, awesome fan-made content, or things that went on in the game's history.

And, since Spiral Knights is a co-op game, I'd make sure to leave plenty of room for guest appearances. These appearances would be as simple as just joining me mid-delve. Heck, I might even join other people mid-run! If possible, I'd like to have someone who would play along side throughout the series, co-commentating as we go...just so I don't get lonely. ;)

At best, I'd like to make a series that captures the gameplay, spirit, and community of SK. Similar to Chuggaconroy's videos, I'd like to make it a rather exhaustive series, to the point were even beta testers (like myself) can learn a thing or two. I know that this would be a HUGE undertaking, and I might not even be able to pull it off. That being said, I'd like to do it while Spiral Knights still has some life left in it. (No offense, Grey Havens, but I feel that your efforts will only keep the game going for a little longer.)

So...what do you think? Would you watch? Suggestions? Comments?

Long-Playing

I thought it was going to be an LP --- a long-playing record. But then I am out of touch. But then vinyl is in the middle of a comeback.

I don't watch YouTube/Twitch/any videos of games, but maybe you'll get useful feedback from someone else. Cheers.

Hello Darkness, my Old Friend.

I've seen Chugga's Splatoon LP before.
Basically every episode he would do some single player, review a weapon, and then use it in multiplayer.

So I guess Eternity is thinking of making an Let's Play where he does some progression each episode and then reviews some weapon.
...And it's variants.

It's a pretty cool idea, reviewing weapons and whatnot for redshirts.

@Bopp

I wonder if the SK OST is on vinyl...Googling "Spiral Knights vinyl" got me this, but that's not exactly what you're thinking of, either. :P

@Blazecat-Percival

Eternity-Terminal is actually my alt. I would have just posted using this account but signing in with my Steam can be a pain at times...I have a bad habit of forgetting to charge my phone. >.>

Your idea is pretty much correct. My purpose, though, is to archive SK on Youtube for myself and other game designers. The whole thing about MMOs is that they will (inevitably) expire some day and be inaccessible for future generations. Sure, people could write about SK (and many already have), but this is trying to take things from a slightly different style, picking apart the missions. I wouldn't do this in Arcade, so then there would be some variety throughout the series.

Of course, as getting all of the weapons in SK is a time consuming process, I'd probably ask around for people who could help demonstrate the weapons on camera. And it's very possible that I would only go so far with such a series, as my classes and game project (AND YOU-BRAINSMUSH-TUBE Gets thwacked on the head.) are drains on my time.

On a little side note, I would also mention Jempire Story...and maybe some footage of that. Who knows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i would watch.

If it was even 1/4 the quality of Chugga's Splatoon LP, I would 100% watch it.

1/4th the quality? As in, recording quality? Or how well it's put together?

Hello Darkness, my Old Friend.

That's easy, just start with something like this.

-Insert picture of a toy gun-
"This is the Proto Gun! The Proto Gun belongs to the handgun class, a weapon used for attacking from a distance for safety, but they don't deal as much damage as swords or bombs and lack their stopping power too. The Proto Gun has average range, average damage, and average firing speed, so it's easy to use."
-Insert demonstration of redshirt shooting st00f-
"This gun will fire up to three shots before having to reload. The charge shot is a bigger, better shot that has higher knockback and staggers damaged enemies."
Blah blah blah more stuff
"Don't play LD everyone is a crazed skrub"
