People who complain about Polaris, are you actually mad or is it just a meme at this point? Except for a select few players, and I mean extremely few (there have only been 1-5 players in the history of the game who could use this thing properly), anyone else who uses it is fairly easy to take down. Real rap, Blasters outright beat Polaris 1-on-1. It's not even a contest, especially if you're wearing BK, which most people who post here do. Once you get in on a Polaris user, they're basically dead anyways unless you're garbage and can't hit them. Remember that Polaris tickles close range. Once you're there, it's free. Just get good.

Now, in scenarios where you're pitted against 3 or more of them, I can sort of understand your point. It's hard to take down when you can't even see the pebble. That said, how come people don't just use their brain and not fight? I see this particularly when a team is on a point and they're gunning down all entry points. Some dummy will go in guns blazing, or swords blazing in this case, and rage after he gets completely disemboweled by the whole squad and blame Polaris for his idiotic decision. Literally, just wait for them to not be a unit and then strike. People seem to think striking like a moron is honorable and commendable. Dying sucks, so don't do it. Think.

This post is only directed at all the baddies out there making excuses. There are plenty of good enough players who make short work of Polaris. They know how simple it is or their computers/connection is so good that they can see everything perfectly. Polaris isn't the problem, you are. Too many kids expect the answers to fall on their lap. They don't want to work and that's the problem. Adapt and learn. Be better.

I like Pola

If I were one of the people complaining about Polaris I think I would really be complaining about the easy area denial. Most players don't really know how to move other than running straight at the enemy and that is the best way to get hit by Pola.

There is also a perception that Pola users are unskilled and just use the Pola as a crutch (or is that AT lol). The biggest problem with Pola for me used to be the shock (Before I got some nice UVs) because of the shock locking you in place to eat more bullets. Polaris is relatively easy to avoid as a striker or recon but as a guard or bomber, Polaris can really be a pain. As you said though, blasters are way more annoying as they have better damage (I think) and are far harder to dodge.

But honestly I don't think anyone who complains about pola will see this thread and this thread will most likely be wasted. I don't mind polaris and I will most likely join in if a few people are spamming (Because it's fun). Don't hate it, use it.

edit: To answer your very first question, I think it has become a meme.

Welp.

From my point of view, using a polaris isn't competitive and is just annoying for other people. Supernova isn't "spammy" as polaris and others, because has no status. Status in general are shit, especially shock. Your choince if using it or not, if you really want to use polaris then don't use it ONLY. (also because it's dumb to do, i saw some people using for real only polaris as weapon)

Wqksayi: So basically, people just gotta not suck and dodge. See, I wish people decided to learn and get good instead of rage and stay bad. That's the common trend I see in gaming and it's disappointing. Thanks for the feedback.

Skiino: What is competitive in Lockdown though? That's a question that not many people here can answer truthfully because everyone in this game will describe it to suit their play-style. That is not a fair assessment of the game no matter how you look at it. Like I said before, everyone just wants the easy route. Most people who claim competitiveness in Spiral Knights just want a game where they can be the best, the easiest. They don't want to have to think or have stress because that's too hard. Unfortunately, that is exactly what a competition is. An environment where you challenge both mind and body against other people to see who is better. The beauty of competition is that people can express themselves in their own special way.

With that said, saying status isn't competitive doesn't seem very fair and extremely biased. It's a part of the game that has been around since the game came to be. It's literally what everyone who plays signed up for. Saying it's annoying is something personal, but it's something you have to overcome as a competitor. The way someone's mind works might be completely different to yours. It seems as though too many players have this mindset where the only way to play is to only build high damage with swords, however, that mindset is much too narrow and ignorant. While some people only want to kill everything in sight, others might want to control zones, stall until reinforcements arrive, support the team with bombs or cover-fire, or just to win the match. There's more to life than big dick damage.

At the end of the day, competitive Spiral Knights is whatever each person wants it to be. Setting limitations on others is just being selfish. If anyone who plays this game considers themselves a true competitor, they'd already know this.

@The-Judge

Yep pretty much, lack of skill is what really drives salt.

Idk how it all involved into

Idk how it all involved into being salty and other things lmao makes no sense, btw im not judging you, just saying that some things in lockdown are unbalanced and for noobs, opinions are opinions, deal with it. If you enjoy being shocked then gg (and yes lockdown isn't competitive, and wont be in any future) btw my point is, use polaris if you want, just dont be annoying with it tho unless you want to get hated. i already quitted the game but i remember when joining lockdown lobbies and all i saw in my screen were giant bullets everywhere with lag spikes (plus, ping lagging but that was my personal problem) that just gave me deep cancer. after being said that, i understand some people just want to mess around and have fun in their own way, or just farming for tokens, so thats the quick solution. If you know how to use guns and pulsar line well, you can be the HELL. Again, opinions and my playstyle, but lockdown and sk is what it is. So yeah, have fun i guess. (RIP All the veteran players)

Back in the days, Polaris was

Back in the days, Polaris was used for zone control in a team effort. It put a lot of pressure on the map with area denial and shock threats packed together with diving strikers back to back. If that was used in today's GvG or RLD, good luck capturing points.

It was also helpful in pressuring GvG status bombers more efficiently as not everyone was able to afford bomb resistant UVs.

People had more experience dealing with it as well as using it. A lot knew how to use it for zone control and rush+combos. e.g. Forcing people to play offensive and creating openings.

Today it's more watered-down and mostly mindless spam, but eh. Still laggy as shit

I agree especially about the zone control, thats good. I just hated when people spammed it totally randomly in the areas. Actually not even annoying, just boring to play, like i was staring and thinking "ok cool stuff bro, now put it down and fight fo real". Btw pulsars and auto aim discussions are saturated af nowdays x'D Also people is not even caring anymore about tournaments, so sad. Someone should restart them with funny rules or whatever. If the game wasn't laggy i would've stayed.
