In the Depth "King of Ashes Ashen Armory" you come across a certain point where you have to choose between two paths, left and right path. This question has been lingering around my mind for a long time, so someone answer it please.
Which path is easier and which is harder to complete? And which gives more crowns and which gives less crowns?
I like to mix it up, as that makes the dungeon more entertaining for me. This usually means going with whatever my party wants.
I don't have detailed data on the relative crown payouts, but the west (left) side seems to pay about 200 more crowns than the east, on average.
Now that there is no energy fee per level, I agree that you should optimize for time, rather than spending a lot of time getting every last crown out of the level.
Mixing it up helps reduce the tedium of running Firestorm Citadel again and again.
But then again, the crown payout is random so it's difficult to tell which way has a better payout...
Random in terms of, sometimes you get crowns from defeated enemies and sometimes not or less than expected.
Yes, the crown payouts are random. They vary from run to run, sometimes by more than 200 crowns. So it's possible for an east-path run of FSC to pay more than a west-path run of FSC.
But the payouts are random about a central tendency. That's a fancy way of saying that there's an average payout, and although your payout varies from run to run, it is usually fairly close to that average.
To tease out what the average is, you need good data sets. For example, the Lancer Knightz mission crowns data contain many careful measurements. But only their west-path data are shown.
Personally I have fewer data for the east path, and hence more uncertainty in that average payout. But, last I checked, the east-path average was coming in around 200 crowns less than the west-path average. Cheers.
As long as you don't fight with party members, I pick whatever they "voted" for, and just follow them, for faster run instead of debating.
This is probably a question that's been asked quite often.
Basic consensus is that the left side offers more crowns and is safer. The right side offers less crowns and is more hazardous. However, the right side is also significantly faster, and if you're farming FSC constantly throughout the day it's better to take the right path to save time.
