I play the game on steam, usually with 120 fps or so. But sometimes, because of intense fighting or too much animations going on, the FPS drops to 60-70, and everytime it drops the game "slows" or "mini-crashes" for a sec, making gaming less enjoyable. So, like the title says, is there a way to cap or limit the maximum FPS of the game?

If you are playing in full screen mode then when you go to change your resolution you should see some fps settings as well, don't think you can change it in windowed mode though

But the slowdowns you are getting might be related to the Java settings, there is sometimes a small pause when enemies spawn however you can do some tweaks to fix that either by increasing ram used or messing with the GC parameters, there is a thread about here somewhere.

Oh that!

The tweaks, yea i've done those according to a steam guide (that redirected me to the thread you told). And about those FPS settings in resolution, all i can see is the 60hz fullscreen which is the way i've been playing this game ever since i installed it

ah

Try enabling VSync if you can if you want to limit frames. Should be in video options in advanced as an "Enable Vertical Sync" checkbox.

Yup, Vsync

Yup, Vsync is what you want. In case you aren't aware, that option locks the game's FPS to that of your monitor. While it's primary purpose is to make the video quality look smoother, it has the added affect of fixing games that have issues where the FPS spikes way up.

Autofire's alt is here! *Explodes*

Well, a way to fix the game at 30 FPS would be nice. Might even fix some "internet" lag! (When the client's computer is overtaxed, it can make it appear as if you had lag internet-wise, but it's just that the computer can't keep up.)

This thread calls to mind this Extra Credits video.
