There is no progression, only 'will I be lucky enough this time?'

There is nothing to work towards. In every other event, you can set a goal for yourself and play until you complete it. This event has none of that. There is only one goal worth having, the book, and it is so rare that it doesn't matter how much you farm, you still probably won't get it.

It's ok to have an impossibly rare drop in an event, but it can't be the point of the whole event. The event boss is locked behind a ultra-massive RNG wall and that's just sad.

agree, but

I agree that the luck and reward are both set too high in this event. But there is an intermediate goal, toward which to work: Get 70 Ancient Pages, so that you can get the 3-star Black Kat helmet. Its offense is just as good as any Black Kat armor. Its defense is not good, but one doesn't wear this armor for defense. So it's a nice lower-level reward.

well..

getting 70 ancient pages is trivial. It's only day 3 of the event and I already have twice that.

There is nothing else to work towards after that. I can get fetishes with extra pages, but it's faster to do FSC and buy them.

The book is the only thing left, but there's no guarantee, or even a remote chance, that you will be able to acquire it no matter how much you farm the first floor of purr terror/weight of darkness/alone in the dark.

Once you get 70 pages, there is no more progression, only a giant RNG wall and then the end.

Just allowing players to trade in a large number of ancient pages for a wicked whisker would alleviate this. It would still take a lot of time to complete a raiment, but at least it would be a little less impossible.

yup

This event is one that would benefit from a large overhaul. It was one of the earliest events so it doesn't surprise me that it has a few issues with balance.

Lol wtf. Who has the time to

Lol wtf. Who has the time to grind this much on a game with developers that spend their time on RGB websites for new colors.

I agree

I agree with you that locking stuff beind ultra-massive RNG walls is not clever, however i never saw margrel as the whole goal of the event, for me it was more about the kat helmets.

how do you farm pages

I heard you can farm them in the weight of darkness mission but I wanted to know how you do it Darklordskull, as you said "getting 70 ancient pages is trivial."

yes

Weight of Darkness, or An Occurrence at Owlite Keep. Spawn as many black kats as you can, and kill every one you spawn. Getting 70 Ancient Pages is quite doable.

You can also get a few pages every day by doing the prestige mission.

I agree with the RNG based being terrible.

Back when one of the events came out (I think it was either Winterfest or Apocrea) they said something like gaining the weapons "over several events", but then lots of people got them all on the first day.

So, it seems they wanted an event which will keep people playing without them having to do any additional work.

somewhat

"however i never saw margrel as the whole goal of the event"

For me, that's how I saw it as well, until the kat armors were released and locked behind the wicked whisker requirements (which requires a margrel fight).

The event turned from "oh lucky you if you find a book" to "you need to go find 6 books in a limited time".

I would be perfectly okay with the event if there was some way to get wicked whiskers without margrel, or if the non-black kat armors had no whisker requirement, but as it stands the event very clearly revolves around the book now, and that's honestly a shame.
