Don't add players to parties that aren't going to attempt another level.

The game allows open groups, so that you can be in a group and if there is room, the game might add more people to your group. That's good. It also allows you to jump into a group that has already formed, rather than having to find people manually. That's also good. These are both optional, of course, as a group leader can lock the group or players can wait for a manual invite or start their own group rather than jumping into a random group.

If you try to start in tier 1, it works fine. If you try to start in tier 2, the game often throws you into Moorcroft Manor in a group led by someone who doesn't have two star gear, and can't move on past that town. And it's someone who is taking his time wandering around, or is AFK, or something. That's bad.

And it's not just that you have to restart once to get tossed into a different group. If you leave that party and the try to join a group again, it likely just dumps you back into the same useless party that isn't moving on. If you start a new party, then the game doesn't put anyone else in your party, because it's putting people into that other party that isn't moving on, and then they'll leave and can't find yours. If you go on solo, then you're solo, and still haven't found a group. This can make it take 5 or 10 minutes to get a group if you want to start in tier 2, when it should take only a few seconds.

I don't know if tier 3 has this same problem. I suspect that it does, but I haven't done tier 3 yet.

My proposal to fix this is simple. If a group is in Moorcroft Manor and contains a player who is ineligible to move on because he doesn't have two star gear, then lock the group and don't automatically add more players to it. Likewise, if a group is in Emberlight and contains a player who is ineligible to move on because he doesn't have four star gear, then lock the group and don't automatically add more players to it. Instead, let players who try to join a group be put into a group that might actually attempt another level after they join.

Those players can drop their vitapods for you so i'm all against enforcing this as whole, especially when it comes to Tier 3. If anything make it client side for players a checkbox "Don't join parties with people without Tier x clearance"

Do you really want to use a tier 1 vitapod in tier 2?

Besides, such people won't drop stuff for you. Those who would be inclined to do so will leave the town pretty quickly, before you get thrown into their party. The ones who stay won't acknowledge that you're there. All they'll do is sit there and not let you get a real party.

But yes, I'd be fine with making it a player option to not join a useless party.

Go solo is the answer

If you are not happy with your party just go solo and invite some friends. I never go with random party anymore, only with my guildies or buddies.

Couldn't care less about Tier

Couldn't care less about Tier 1 vitapods but goddamit, with your suggestion you cockblock Tier 3, starting health is vital there. And people drop stuff when i ask them, maybe one out of ten won't but most do when i explain to them.

If you don't want to jump

If you don't want to jump into random parties, that's fine. But why not make the system work well for people who do? And for people who are new at the game, too, and don't have a bunch of people on a friends list to invite? Is there really any advantage to making it take an extra 10 minutes to start a group?

The heart pendants are rarely as good as a vitapod from the 2nd strata (bottom of T1), and they go for 10k-500k crowns. By the time you have reached the bottom of T2, these heart pendants are no longer giving you a significant boost since you typically have 20-30 bars of health from other means. Also, take a look at the prices of T1 vita pods sold in moorcroft manor, and I've seen people buy them.

My guess is that a very large percentage of players would like a T1 vitapod when starting T2.

Remedy pills are as good from T1 as T3.

T1 health pills can be held at the same time you are accumulating T2 health pills and they are still useful

Even T1 curse/fire/freeze vials can be useful until you get T2 versions.

So, all in all, yeah, i would say joining a group of T1-only players at moorcroft (or T2-only at emberlight) is very useful.

I've had the same problem, A

I've had the same problem, A LOT, and no matter the stuff you get, i doubt it's worth 10 minutes of waiting or can make starting the next tier solo a choice more viable than going with a party and pockets empty. But this might not be true in tier 3. My thoughts would be to make midpoints capable of supporting 2 teams, one coming from tier 1 and one going to tier 2 etc.

I'd be interesting to turn them into Sub-Havens, so to speak, e.g. make going there free for those with clearance as a place for people to hung out like they do in Haven.
