...just give the catalyzers status effects to fix them

You know that hit that does one damage? Apply a low but high chance status to it.

Neutralizer would get freeze because that'd be the "best" thing, biohazard would get poison because it already does that. They'd be like the haze bombs of handguns, but would still have the charge mechanic backing them up for serious damage.

I'm a bit confused? You mean a Good Chance to Inflict Minor Poison or the other way around?

As for Neutralizer, we should probably stay away from giving it a status as its raw damage would be nerfed to Biohazard's level. Plus Freeze would be scary.

Perhaps instead we just give normal attacks a bit more damage than a piece of dust getting in their eyes. Perhaps scratch-level damage? 1/10 of Charge's Raw Damage?

What if neutralizer just did full damage both on contact and explosions? That way it'd be a subpar gun that can get great if you master it, instead of a useless gun that can get mediocre if you master it.

Ok looks like someone don't get the idea of catalyzers, these weapons aren't just regulat pew pew guns like blasters or others, thy meant to be used with tactic and some patience, and they're definetly not meant for pvp, action there is simply too fast. But they are great guns if you're playing alone, or you'r teammates aren't killing everything befor you even see it. These guns are incredibly powerfull if you use them properrly, of course now thye're kinda lacking the regular shot dmg but at least you don't need to charge-attack to place some explosive chargs on enemies. Also i would really like to see elemental Catalyzer, like for me Wildfire should be one instead of beeing another elemental Pulsar

When a weapon can be described as "oh it's okay when your teammates don't kill everything", that's kind of a sign that everything else is better.

While catalyzers aren't bad weapons, they are mediocre at best. Both the idea of heavy status chance on the main bullets or dealing damage once + tagging would instantly allow these weapons to be usable in parties.

Yes, it would be scary. You'd freeze something, stack charges, and it would be helpless. That seems more than fair compensation for a slight damage nerf to me. There's another weapon that behaves similarly- shivermist buster... which can be coupled with the likes of blitz needle for again, the same effect. Overall, I don't see what the issue is.

That would work too. In fact, it might be preferable if the ice idea is too much.

They're actually about the same DPS as alchemers. The alchemers however just apply that damage immediately, and are as you put it "regulat pew pew guns like blasters". Rather, neutralizer and biohazard are "meant to be used with tactic and some patience", and so deserve a much higher reward in terms of damage etc. Being given these status effects would help them be used with tactic and some patience.

I'm also of the belief that if something does not see regular use then it needs some form of buff. A good example of this is irontech destroyer. Is it good? Can it clear difficult content? Yes, absolutely. Does it see use? No.. so what's the point in having it? There is none. It's the tree falling in the woods with no one there to hear it. Give it fire, or a damage boost or something until it fits in.

I don't see why they can't fit in somewhere in PvP.
