Player made maps for the game?

Hello, i'm an avid gamer that's been playing the game almost non-stop since it got out on steam and a thought came to my mind while i were playing;
"What if players could add their own maps and then have a group of people that check if they're genuine and not just some map full of coins or heat without any real enemies.".

I told my friend and fellow player Tentacles about it and here's the steam log where we brainstomed on the topic.

10:36 - [S]: Ocfos: I hope they'll let players submit maps at some point.
10:36 - [S]: Ocfos: I'd love to make some.
10:36 - Ten_Tacles: Yes.
10:36 - Ten_Tacles: That would rock.
10:36 - Ten_Tacles: Maybe for the dangerrooms?
10:36 - [S]: Ocfos: I'd love to make a few levels on my own.
10:36 - Ten_Tacles: But most clockwork levels are randomly generated.
10:37 - [S]: Ocfos: True but still.
10:37 - Ten_Tacles: Yeah.
10:37 - Ten_Tacles: Maybe then we can make use of Golden Gun Puppies and Golden Trojans.
10:37 - Ten_Tacles: Or slooms.
10:37 - Ten_Tacles: Hehe.
10:37 - [S]: Ocfos: And to ensure nobody makes a "Floor full of gold coins" map they'd need testers.
10:37 - Ten_Tacles: I would say, people can make them.
10:37 - Ten_Tacles: And upload them.
10:38 - Ten_Tacles: People judge them, and the devs check out the ones that are on the top of the list.
10:38 - Ten_Tacles: If they are dumb/too hard/not hard enough they will not be taken.
10:38 - Ten_Tacles: Even if 20000 people want them.
10:38 - [S]: Ocfos: Hmm.
10:38 - [S]: Ocfos: That wouldn't be a bad idea.
10:38 - [S]: Ocfos: And then people could "Test" them.
10:38 - [S]: Ocfos: Without getting loot.
10:38 - Ten_Tacles: Yes.
10:39 - [S]: Ocfos: Or get a set loot.
10:39 - Ten_Tacles: Yeah.
10:39 - Ten_Tacles: I would say without loot.
10:39 - Ten_Tacles: But without energy cost either.

So what would you say about getting this feature to the game? As said in the log i'd personally love it and even contribute with maps myself if it ever gets added.

Whilst I like the idea in

Whilst I like the idea in theory, I have a feeling that moderating levels would prove a bottomless nightmare for the devs.

Well, the point is that these

Well, the point is that these levels are not for play until the devs take it into the game.

And to prevent maps that aren't childfriendly (how the [heck] do you even manage to do that) make them cost crowns or energy to make.
Maybe.
Also forces players to actually deliver GOOD maps, so their payment wasn't in vain .

Nonono, I get that, but

Nonono, I get that, but sifting through endless stacks of player-made levels to approve is liable to become a horrendous chore for the devs.

Read the OP.

And that's why we agreed that players should be able to test the maps without any gain or loss and rate them to then have the devs or someone else check out the highest rated ones.
It says that in the log i posted.

For it to be possible there

For it to be possible there would have to be made a lot of rules directly in the level editor:
- fixed limit of crowns and heat per level
- limited amount of species that can be on the level
- limits on species itself (like how currently Trojans are really rare, for putting one in the level it would require a huge drawback in form of taking off (guesstimate) 4-8 common monsters
- restriction correlation: theme to monsters
- setting an distance between how close the mobs can spawn

That way it would be possible to plow out the worst things already on start.

I read your damn post, dude, I'm just disagreeing. Community rating are extremely easy to rig and not always indicative of actual merit (just look at Halo's player-created content); you're still going to end up with an enormous quantity of levels that the devs have to go through and approve. Besides, it does seem to run rather counter to the spirit of exploring unknown strata that typifies SK's adventuring.

Custom Danger Rooms I can see working, though; they're easier and quicker to test, pretty hard to cheat, and can be slotted neatly into SK lore without too much stretching (maybe as an advanced training gauntlet in Haven, for example).
