Everyone knows SK's population of players isn't what it used to be. Lockdown is the only place end gamers with max UV's can go to validate themselves. You spent a load of money to git gud. That's fine. But personally I don't like signing up to get blasted and killed by strikers. Guardians? What's that? I usually recon bomb to hide from the Black Kat blazin', sword swingin', polaris spammin', gun shootin' kinda people. Tier 3 is stressful.

I want to play the game casually, and I had an idea the other day: "nobody plays Tier 1 lockdown". You'll struggle to get the minimum quota of players needed to start the game for 1 round, and then never again for who knows when. It's so bad it makes the Blast Network population of people look alive.

But Tier 1 is where it's real good. Everyone has the armor and weapons already, and UV's don't really matter because the damage scale is so tiny. Even a noob can last in a fight with a pro. It's good for practice.

And then I had an even crazier idea: "What if we played Lockdown... but with no weapons?". It's possible. Imagine the utter [lack] of chaos. Now it's not a goal of killing, but a game of who can capture the flag the fastest.

Nobody in the history of the game has done this as far as I know, and I've been around since 2012.

I had several people interested in trying "Naked Lockdown", but I couldn't get enough to start a game. So with that out of the way, who would be interested in a no risk, stress free "Naked Lockdown" capture the flag in Tier 1?

I'm free all week and I'm east coast US. Who's with me?

Not to get off topic

Not to get off topic but,
Wheres the love for blast network seriously?
Some don't like lockdown, and lockdowns been getting loads of attention recently.
With a new map, events, and hardcore mode. (which didn't surprise me at first when it was just TURNING OFF AUTO AIM, but they did add traps, and other things later.)

hahaha I used to love doing

hahaha I used to love doing tier 1 lockdown and had better gear than everyone because I was the only one who spent money on it. I miss it. I had a duel love locket which was a super rare drop then and worth at least 300k and I spent well over 20,000 ce (when ce was more valuable and 4-5k cr per 100) making heavy hatchets to try and get asi vh varient. Then one or two people started doing similar things. Anyways, back then, in 2011, tier 1 lockdown was around 3 times more active than tier 3 is right now. At one point during a steam event there were 900 players simply in lockdown games or waiting, most probably in tier 1 to get the steam christmas achievement. If it did become more active though, I'd have the biggest advantage with my elemental max circuit breaker and emberbreak helm, asi high hatchet, asi vh pummel gun and high charge reduct firecracker bomb.

As for naked lockdown, it sounds a bit bland, like one of those things which has a small chance of turning out awesome but 95% chance of turning out dull, boring and unmanagable. I think it'd be really hard to keep finding enough players for it too but I'd definitely give it some tries if you find other people. My username is Erridunno

er

With "Naked Lockdown", it's pretty much just "send strikers to the other points and stand on them". Since standing on a cap blocks captures, it's just a matter of standing on the cap first. It might be more interesting as "sumo lockdown", where players can only use bombs in an attempt to knock others off their point.

Proto ld. All players have the same equipment no UVs seems like this is very doable.

Just one set across the

Just one set across the board, like in blast network. No one should have a gear advantage. (At least in one game mode )

The proto idea isn't new. It

The proto idea isn't new. It is also a terrible idea. Not everyone wants to play with just proto sword and armor. Bombing would be nonexistent, gunning less prominent than now, all that would be left are the brain dead strikers spamming swords all the time.

T3 LD's strength is variety in weapon choice. You have to adapt to stay competent, else you prove that you are inferior to people who have mastered things other than swords.

Weapons would have to be balanced far more than they currently are in order to make a UVless playing field actually fair. Swords and guns might be somewhat balanced now if no UVs were used, but bombs would need a buff. Maybe removal of the red indicator circle or something.

I would be completely for the idea of removing UVs from LD though, now that would be cool.

hmm

With Lockdown, I keep seeing the same ideas thrown around. Pretty much all of them say "nerf everyone so everyone is weak", and while that does work for balance sort of, it honestly just makes the game super boring because you're staring at the respawn screen all the time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but I'd be all for 3 variants of lockdown - modes I've dubbed "tournament", "classic", and "ultra". The three types of lockdown would be randomly chosen in random team lockdown, and could be specified like the difficulty levels slider for GvG.

Tournament would be what everyone now claims would fix lockdown. Trinket slots and UVs would be nullified, plus auto-target would be disabled. This is to create the most balanced form of lockdown we can possibly have.

Classic would be exactly what we have now, zero changes there.

Ultra would be kinda crazy. Stats would, essentially, be doubled (however trinkets would retain their normal bonuses, and UVs wouldn't have their effects doubled). This grants everyone high damage, attack speed, health, etc, should they have the appropriate gear. Dragon scale striker would have super fast swords while being highly resistant to flourishes and arcana, chaos would have the same damage boost as black kat, etc. On top of this, hazards from the hazardous hardcore mode would be active, potentially with some new special hazards included! Lastly, family damage bonuses would be applied to the three classes (fiend/beasts = striker, slime/gremlin = recon, construct/undead = guardian). Overall, the goal of this mode is to make everyone overpowered and make combat be crazy but fun rather than slow and tactical.

With these three modes, you cover all the bases for lockdown. You don't split up the community since random team will be a random LD gamemode - you can also encourage GvG more frequently since players may want to play a specific gamemode.

Expanding Lockdown to cover all bases also allows for new players to get in. In 2 of the 3 gamemodes players are set on more even ground, it gives a higher chance for new players to hone in their skills, be it through gritty strategy or random flailing with high health.
