How do Battle Sprite perks really work?

So my first perk is a health boost of +6, so I assume this gives me six more bars of health.

But does the Needle Shield III really give me high pierce defense? So, if I had high pierce defense on my armor, would that mean I have max pierce defense?

Does the Bomb Focus II really give my bombs an additional charge time reduction medium?

Does the Liquifier III actually make all my weapons do an additional High damage to slimes?

Do people change their battle sprite options for every different level, or save them multiple loadouts?

Finally, do you think a sleep resist option going to be added to our battle sprites, too?

yes

You might want to read the wiki page "Abilities", to learn how abilities work.

So my first perk is a health boost of +6, so I assume this gives me six more bars of health.

Yes.

But does the Needle Shield III really give me high pierce defense? So, if I had high pierce defense on my armor, would that mean I have max pierce defense?

There is no limit on damage defense, so "max" doesn't really mean anything. But yes, you get +3 from your armor and +3 from your perk, for a total of +6.

Does the Bomb Focus II really give my bombs an additional charge time reduction medium?

Yes.

Does the Liquifier III actually make all my weapons do an additional High damage to slimes?

Yes. It gives your weapons damage+3 against slimes, up to a cap of +6.

Do people change their battle sprite options for every different level, or save them multiple loadouts?

No, I do not change my perks on every level.

Finally, do you think a sleep resist option going to be added to our battle sprites, too?

I do not know. Or think, even. Cheers.

Yes the sprite perks function.

Defense is actually much larger/precise than just "+3 stages" like attack etc. are measured in. I believe "max defense" = 26 defense at D25... where each pip of health is 40 hit points. Full royal jelly is 150 piercing defense.

If an attack does say, 500 damage and you have 10 pips of health with 202 defense i.e. just two "max" UVs, you take (500 - 202) / 40 = 7.45 pips of health

For lots of defense this changes, and we don't understand it.

You also get extra defense on normal and I believe advanced mode as well, at a baseline value- so all defenses under a certain amount are brought up to that certain amount automatically.

yes, Defense

Yes, I should have mentioned the wiki page "Defense" too. It covers a lot, but not all, of those points.

The exact effect of defence perks are difficult to understand but fortunately +6 health is so insanely much better that there is no reason to ever think about it.

I never use defense perks,

I never use defense perks, and only rarely - status resistance ones, usually for things like Compound 42 or Ghost in the Machine, when having two Max from armor and helemt is not enough. (Since I'm not always playing with trinket slots open).
What I use the most are monster damage perks and sometimes CTR when I go bomber - basically, poor man's UVs.
All my loadouts include perks. And I never use HP bonus outside of Apocrea, because on high difficulty most monsters hit harder than that. I'd rather kill them faster.
Ah, also I have a 'civilian' loadout with speed boost perk, for getting around the Haven faster. =D

@The-Vindicar, I don't

@The-Vindicar, I don't actually think MSI actually works in Haven :P Correct me if I'm wrong, because that would be cool.

I like using the Health Boost perk for Dreams and Nightmares, since no vitapods is a big issue.

@Potatosak

I think it does, I do outrun people there - especially since I also wear Black Cat Cowl and Mercurial Demo Suit. =)
D&N is an issue, but I tend to just buy that Vitapod. It's a net loss of 1.5k cr for the mission, but radiants are worth it.
I can see how extra HP will be useful there, but for me bomb CTR allows for more mobility, meaning you're being hit less.
