Auto Target Cooldown Timer

Since Spiral Knights is intended for 13+ or something, there is Auto Target for those who are missing 4 fingers or are still developing. However, for the 20% of those who are above 14 years of age and have 5 fingers, they despise Auto Target because it takes away from the game play and fairness in the game. In order to balance out the need of Auto Target for those in development mode and to allow a fair play field for veteran players, I think the best Idea would be to add a cooldown/timer for Auto target. Much like statuses or Battle sprite skills, when Auto Target is enabled, it will only lock onto a Mob/Player every 5 seconds (could be changed). This will allow players in development to practice their aim, so they do not rely on a robot to do everything. This will make the lockdown mini-game more balanced, and overall increase the skills of the spiral knights community. My mother is a well known physiologist in South Antarctica, and has said to me many times that growth is the most important aspect in life. So, I feel that with a cooldown for Auto Target, players will be able to learn how to aim, while being assisted along the way (Much like how your dad lets you ride a bike and keeps you on track when your about to fall). Although auto target would not be completely removed, I feel like the community will enjoy that there is a nerf to it and will overall increase player population and decrease sodium levels

Thank you for reading this is just a suggestion

ummm

Auto-target also helps a lot during times of serious lag, so i say no to the cooldown.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Um...I don't really see how a lot of the things you said have a lot to do with the game, but thanks for sharing your full opinion.

Anyway, unfortunately Auto Target is probably around to stay. A cooldown in LD, where things are more competitive, sure. But against monsters...naw.

Besides, Auto Target tends to be a nuisance if you know what you're doing. If you try playing with it and there are a bunch of monsters, it feels really...sloppy. For example, you must hold still for AT to work at all, so you can't kite with guns.

er

This is a lockdown suggestion, yes?

You want players to play without auto-target, but I dunno. It's helpful for a good number of players, and with a large number of control scheme setups it would be unfair to players who don't use a mouse at all.

Auto-target in lockdown isn't that big of a deal. People were freaking out about it in the old days, but since then we've learned it's not about auto-target, it's about UVs and ping. Auto-target helps new players tremendously more than veteran players, and taking away their training wheels means they'll crash, burn, and never play lockdown again.

I will say the hazardous hardcore mode has been good for lockdown, but if it was permanent it would be a bad thing for anyone who is not a veteran.
