How to specify a new modifier key/remove left shift as a modifier key
Great, thanks!
Science first, cleanup later.
shift+click doesn't seem to do anything, and I still can't set a new modifier key.
How do I reassign dash to just left shift with no x?
To be clear, by "shift-click" I mean: Hold down the Shift key. Click. Then release the Shift key. Right?
It works for me. So does command-clicking (which the game calls meta --- maybe the Windows key on a Windows keyboard?).
Does what I'm saying work for anyone else? What is the right way to explain it?
click once on the left shift next to modifier.
then press whatever other button you want to use as a modifier instead of shift.
once it's freed up, then you can map the button to whatever else you want.
To remove a key binding, select it and then press backspace. That typically works for me, as I'm pretty sure my modifier key has been disabled for some time now.
In the custom controls panel of your game preferences, shift-click on the entry that you'd like to change. The panel should go dark, signifying that it's waiting for you to do another thing.
Then press Left Shift. The effect is to set that entry to your Left Shift. You can assign the other modifier keys similarly.
I don't know how to remove a modifier key entirely. But if you set it to a new entry, then its old entry is automatically unassigned. So you should be able to play around until you get what you like.
