Beast monsters have a severe lack of enemy variety. We have dust bunnies (minis), chromalisks (grunt), wolvers, (grunt), and alpha wolver (brute). That leaves so many enemy spawn types left open (elite, healer/support, giant, turret).

Well, how about get an elite-tier monster involved - a spiraltail! It doesn't necessarily have to be a spiraltail, but the beast would be themed around a monkey.

First off, we have its appearance. It looks like a monkey that hops around idly sort of like a gorgo. Like how wolvers are a combination of wolves and badgers, this monster could actually be a mix of a dragon and a monkey, having spines, claws, and wings that become more apparent the deeper into the clockworks players dive.

Right, so now we'll go into details on some of the attacks.

Tier 1
- Spiraltail is not affected by auto-target.
- Spiraltail will hop 1 tile from side to side while idle or at projectile range.
- Spiraltail can attack by throwing fruit at the player, which makes them "slip", making them fall over like the old callahan charge attack
This is essentially a single shock spasm as an attack.
- Spiraltail can swipe at players at close range with its claws.

Tier 2
- Spiraltail is not affected by auto-target.
- Spiraltail will hop 2 tiles from side to side while idle or at projectile range.
- Spiraltail can attack by throwing fruit at the player, two in a row now.
- Spiraltail can swipe at players at close range with its claws.
- Spiraltail can lunge at players for about 3/4ths of its projectile range, grabbing on like a zombie (but this doesn't hold the player in place, they can still move to hit it off freely)
- Spiraltail will now attempt to dodge gunfire. 3 second cooldown.

Tier 3
- Spiraltail is not affected by auto-target.
- Spiraltail will hop 3 tiles from side to side while idle or at projectile range.
- Spiraltail can attack by throwing fruit at the player, in bundles of 3 all at once. It can also use the two in a row method from tier 2.
- Spiraltail can swipe at players at close range with its claws.
- Spiraltail can lunge at players within its projectile range, grabbing on like a zombie (but this doesn't hold the player in place, they can still move to hit it off freely)
- Spiraltail will attempt to dodge gunfire. 2 second cooldown.
- Spiraltail will attempt to avoid bomb radiuses when they are first planted. 5 second cooldown.

---

The swipe, the lunge, and the fruit can all deal status. I'm not sure what else to play off of the dragon bit however. I can see it breathing fire at close range as well, but that's not mandatory.

On top of this, the monster still plays into the beast materials, so it's not out of place.

Seems nice, only why prevent it from being auto-targeted? It doesn't add anything to the gameplay, it'd probably just be annoying to players who want to see a more specific health bar and/or cannot aim very well.

few reasons

Honestly the entire idea stemmed from me stating the fact that auto-target can be disabled on players in lockdown, so it would be interesting to see an enemy do the same thing. If it's not immune to auto-target, I would say it could provide itself with a defensive buff that simply makes auto-target not affect it for a limited time, similar to a trojan attack up.

Or they could throw floor hazards like Chromalisk, only bigger.

I like it, nothing much else to add.
