Hello all.
Some of you may know me, many of you won't.
I was thinking about making a return to the game, as I haven't really played it much for a few years, and the new update looks promising.
I basically haven't seriously played since the great RSS nerf, and full Chaos got buffed to outclass Mad Bomber.
As you can guess, I really loved RSS bombing and it took a hard hit to my love of the game, surprisingly.
I certainly do have other weapons that I enjoy (and who doesn't enjoy the cosmetics), but so I'm mainly considering whether the content is sufficient, and what you guys feel about the current state of the game.

Kindest regards,

Portrayt

Pessimism level restored

RSS is still the same as it always have been. Chaos is still OP as ever, nothing has changed in that aspect.

Shard bomb is probably never coming back.

There is a new sleep bomb, that all constructs are immune to. It renders an enemy completely docile but once you attack them, they become resistant to sleep for a few second, in another word, you can't spam it like RSS. It is almost as if GH doesn't want bomber to have any fun.

There is a new set of bomber line, called the padded suit, and it is the only piercing resistant bomber gear on the market.

Black kat event is a thing, if you grind them for long enough, you can get a shadow resistant bomber set, but acquiring a full set of them is like trying to get 3 max UVs on your [enter grossly imbalanced sword name here].

If you don't like cosmetics, then sorry to inform you that GH has pretty much double downed on it. New, recolored boxes every months. And watch as the suckers unload their wallet on a game that doesn't care about them. You do have a 1% chance though, to get a OP gun from some of the boxes, but like I said, you are better off going to a real casino, because they actually pay off with real money, sometimes.

OOO is dead and gone, now hosted by Grey Haven, a group of old OOO staff that are keeping the things running. For how long, no one knows? SEGA has laid off SK too.

Gunner update is here, but nothing really useful if you are a bomber. Unless you want a new blaster/magnus/pulsar variant with a new damage type.

There are new missions, most of them are just good old fashioned spark sinks (ie. SL that doesn't require key). With one barely worth the time if you want some fast radiants. (And nothing else)

That is about all you need to know. Have fun? Bopp is better than me in this in instilling hollow optimism in people.

There has been a trickle of new content: variations on guns, rank missions, sleep levels. Not much, but something.

I recommend that you play it until you get tired of it, and then go on hiatus until some other new content appears. In other words, have whatever fun you can. Why not?

My posts on this topic are always like this. In what sense are they "instilling hollow optimism"?

lots of stuff!

If you left back during the sun shards nerf, then a whole lot has changed in the game. The newest update alone wouldn't be reason to drop by as it's limited to the arcade only and the arcade has the whole "randomization" element to it. Here's a quick rundown of some of the content you can return to:

  • Mission System
  • If you were around for the mission system, we have new missions for the start and the end of the game. Lots of new stuff to try out in that area.

  • Rarities and free elevators
  • Elevators are free, mist is gone, and all things energy used to do (craft, revive) have been replaced with items classified as "rarities". To balance out free elevators, heating has become more involved, requiring a number of "fire crystal" rarities to level up your gear.

  • Gunner update
  • Guns got a huge overhaul. Iron slug has gone from one of the worst guns to one of the best, and several other changes have happened to expand and go after gunners.

  • Battle Sprites
  • You get a little pet to feed and raise that aids you in combat, and has a number of abilities as you raise it! You can purchase more, however you get one for free through the mission system.

  • Numerous promotional boxes
  • We've got a lot of new cosmetics all over the place. People looks super!

That's the smallest overview. We've got a number of other things, like new lockdown maps, new rotating events, difficulty settings, new gear sets, etc. Sadly bombs are still the least powerful type of weapon, however there's still a lot you can do with 'em. I'd say come on back, try stuff out. It's worth a shot, and the game is still as cute and fun as ever!

felling the same here

dude i really liked this game, but gave up on it thanks to the super costume BullS*** and similar stuff,(also could never decide between bomb/sword/gun im cursed in this bit) but on the overall is it worth playing now? can someone with absolute nothing reach at least a decent t2 character with a limited weekend play time?

Yes. Reaching Tier 2 is not hard at all. Just mow your way through the rank missions, and do the Arcade when you get stuck at a Hall of Heroes, which won't happen much. (Reaching Tier 3 is harder...)

on the overall is it worth playing now?

My opinion: All of this philosophizing and planning is unnecessary. It's just a game. Just play it. If you enjoy playing it, then continue. If you don't, then stop. :)

its extremely hard to me to

its extremely hard to me to decide in a "class" already beat the entire FSC solo with a silversix and a 4* flame brandish(to lazy to search the name) but then deleted the character to make a pure bomber :/ this repeated itself many many times, I dont know i like this game a lot but never could make a decision, sword is easier, fast/ never die with guns/ bombs are fun but takes a year to solo, better wait until a next huge update and go on with the hype, i really got attached to this game while it was new.

er

Well, part of the game is about expanding your arsenal and trying out new things. Restarting every time you want to try a new type of weapon just means you're limiting yourself rather than allowing yourself to expand and try it out. If you want to use bombs, make bombs, give them a try, and if you don't like them go for guns or swords. You may slow yourself down by trying everything out, but if you want to try it out there's nothing stopping you!

You aren't limited in your gear outside of personal reasons, so feel free to try it all out. :)

But as for progression, depending on when you last played, either it's super simple to get ahead, or it's about the same. You can get a knight to tier 2 from creation in a couple of hours without really any grind, thanks to mist energy being gone and no elevator fees.
