Questions like these are answered pretty well in the quasi-official Bombing Guide.
BAB charges a little slower and does a little more damage and does a lot more knockback.
Irontech Bomb achieves the full blast radius at 4*.
Neither are as pragmatic as Nitronome, but both are fun.
