The reason I want this is so that we can at least get enough orbs of alchemy for our x-star armor, helmet, shield, and at least one weapon.
In missions, they give enough orbs up to Simple orbs, but they give only 8 Advanced Orbs in total for Rank 5-2, resulting in the player needing to get 4 more Advanced Orbs to get full 3-star equipment (to progress in missions).
I think that we should also receive sufficient amount of orbs (4 Advanced) in Rank 5-1 to make the necessary equipment. Same applies to missions rewarding the player elite orbs and Eternal orbs. Also, in the 6-2 rank Hall of Heroes (and missions after that one), what is the point of giving the player one more Elite Orb if he/she already has full 4-star equipment (which is required for the said person to complete the mission)? And the missions only give 3 Eternal Orbs before the 8-2 Hall of Heroes mission.... They can only craft 1 5-star weapon/gear. Of course, they can go farming, but the chances are low even on elite mode (for Eternal ones), and if you buy them from the supply depot, the total amount of energy required to have full 5-star gear is 2400/1200 energy... very expensive, and almost unaffordable without the use of real money.
Increased amounts of orbs of alchemy in rewards for missions.
Yes, that would be a good idea, but I also think they should give more orbs in mission rewards...
The game has a tremendous pacing problem. The issue is more that you're trying to race past the hall of heroes, not that they don't give you enough orbs. If you were allowed to continue forward without crafting up your gear, it would be more interesting but ultimately frustrating if you aren't being carried.
Essentially, slowing down the progression so that players have time to learn how to play the game and just simply try to play for fun (and get rewards out of that) would be beneficial. Perhaps instead of attaching rewards to missions, we could attach them to prestige level, meaning players who log in every day and play the daily prestige missions would get nice cool rewards for their time, but players who want to progress right now can dive into the clockworks and seek out the orbs they need. It creates an element of slowed progression that can be bypassed through gameplay or payment, but by default is tied to logging in everyday and playing the game.
The game does a pretty terrible job at making the arcade appealing. It has a heavy mission focus, and as you've discovered, when it doesn't give you everything you need you end up lost. If the game had sent you into the arcade and told you to look for new things, you would go do that and get resources rather than waiting for the game to tell you "move along". Mission rewards boosting would be more player friendly, but it would make the Spiral Knights experience end much quicker.
(Lastly, this is mostly a personal experience, eternal orbs of alchemy are the easiest orb to farm for since you simply have to be in tier 3 to get them. Other orbs require farming specialized depths, but eternals do not)
This is a real complaint, if only because of how often it is made.
Personally I'm more an advocate of the daily missions granting one random orb, depending on rank-- a vanguard could get a 2*, 3*, 4*, or 5* orb. Then you remove the mission bonus altogether and raise the rate at which orbs drop in the clockworks by about 50%.
Rather than rushing the player headfirst through the game and then telling them to stop and grind, we need to intertwine the grind with the game itself... and also not force the grind as hard.
But that's just me. [picture of kermit]
