Oh, I agree with you. I'll probably stop or reduce my farming if I ever find a book. I sold my BKC before I quit 3-4 years ago, and I'm certainly regretting that now.
I think this event would be better if the book drops were more common, and the BKC was a craftable line with whiskers (like the armor). That way Grey Havens would not be giving away tons of 5-star helmets for free, and energy would be consumed in the crafting.

For some reason, after getting all the kat items, this event has been awfully nice to me for who knows what reason.
I've farmed up 284 random black kats and managed to walk out with 3 books (@56th, 173rd, and 234th).
I know this is strangely abnormal since I've vigorously farmed previous events, ending up going over 350 kats without a book.

666 BK's and 3 books
1st book at 381 BK's killed (alone in the dark) (I was so angry when I reached 300 BK's without a book that I almost quit)
2nd book at 455 or 456 BK's killed (weight of darkness) (my friend started to get salty)
3rd book at 605 BK's killed (weight of darkness) (my friend got a book on this same BK)
At first I thought that the book had a 1% chance of dropping from a BK seems like it's less than 0.5% (or it may be just my bad luck)
I grinded purr terror, alone in the dark and weight of darkness all a lot and for some reason i get less BK's in purr terror IDK if the mission is bugged or it's just me or whatever.
To find out how many BK's you killed simply do this
(# of pages you have - (# of pages you had before you started grinding + # of pages you got from missions) + # of pages you spent during the event) / 3
Also found 4 mewkats (didn't drop anything) and 7 love puppies (got 1 true love locket)

After 2 weeks of no luck, today I decided to stop when I hit 1050 pages, which was 339 kats. (I had pages in my inventory from a previous event.) Anyway, on my 332nd kat, I finally got a book.
So for the event, I ended up being 1/339.
IMO, the devs should make the black kat equipment more accessible. If people who farm all day can't even find a book, then what about casual users? They won't find a book in their lifetime. I just don't get it.

So I farmed from midnight aprox until the event ended today at my 8 am... besides all the other days since it began.
Talking about dedication...
Tried every method, solo, party, with 2 alts...
I ended up with 1672 pages... I said 1700 to add the drama... that's 557 Kats total.
I got NO BOOK. Yes 0 Books.
This event is incredibly biased, and people mostly craft BLACK KAT stuff. What about the other raiments?!
Well unfortunately since i did not get any Book this event, I won't be making my Kat Eye Raiment.
It's sad the other raiments (Claw/Eye/Hiss) they have such a unfair crafting requirment for their mediocre stats.

Yes, as we discussed in Haven, the event could use some improvements. 1700 pages with no book is too much.
Either make the books more common while making the BKC craftable with Whiskers, or as Fangel suggested, make the Whiskers tradable. Making the Whiskers tradable is simpler for the devs, but making book drops more common would probably have a larger effect on the kat lines' affordability.

I think that you know about prize wheel lockboxes, so if you often open it, you have more chances to get it from the wheel. Another sample, slime casino, you can get luck potion and it will increase your chances to get something good. The best solution is to add counter that will increase your chances with every killed BK, and that will reset after you get the book. The same strategy they can use for treasure boxes, more boxes you open, more chances to get weapon/gear. I got about 10 items for all time i played, 1 item per 500 hours, it's ridiculous.

I use alt playing to my advantage in the solo trick. At the end my main had 2550 tokens while my alt had 500.
It is a total of 3000 tokens. They both started at <10 tokens.
I got my fist book on main at 1050 tokens which is about 350 bks.
My alt got the second book at 300 tokens which is 100 bks
I got my final book on main at 2200 tokens which is about 730 bks.
However, Last Kataclysmic confrontation, held in February I got 5 Books. I only grinded 2000 tokens.
I received one at the start, three in one day in the middle and one at the end of the event.
In closure, I say the books spawn rate is random.

Not being cynical or mean, but these are my stats:
0 kats, 0 books.
I have everything I need from this event, and any money/crowns to be gained from selling the pieces just isn't convincing me to keep playing.
I can't be farming kats for who knows how long without a goal.
