Is it Dr-a-kon or Dr-AE-kon?
When it comes to the Drakon, you really have to wait it out. Sprite is pretty underpowered compared to the other ones, but it gets its power spike once you reach the ultimates, especially with a particular ultimate, Frenzied Firestorm, that's capable of granting team-wide damage buffs. Then there's the pretty useful (and pretty fun) Backfire Barrier. As for the other ultimates, I'm pretty neutral on them, especially for the ultimates of the first abilty, Firebolt.
To be honest though, Drakon seems like it'll always be outclassed by the likes of the Maskeraith when comparing ultimates. The Firestorm ultimate is pretty good, but the Maskeraith is capable of bringing a lot more overall to the table in terms of damage, utility and even debuffing (Quills, Deadly Shadow Cloak, Chaotic Haze).
Once again to be honest, I really just like sprites to have them around. Their kits are just a mere small add-on to the experience for me. But I guess overall whether you regret the sprite will come down to whether you'll have the patience to let it hit its powerspike or not (or it's looks, since the arms are a bit unsightly to me, but that's just me of course). Poor thing is due for a buff, though.

I don't really know how its pronounced, but I like both.
My Drakon is on the 94th level so i'll soon be getting the ultimates.

pretty balanced
Based on threads like this over the past four years, the consensus seems to be:
The battle sprites are fairly evenly balanced --- much more balanced than many other parts of this game.
Insofar as there is an imbalance, it's that drakon is slightly worse than the other two.

Yes i can agree that they are much more balanced than other parts in the game.

Honestly, the Seraphynx has saved me a lot of trouble and time with the Heart Attack and shield ability. I tend to be bad at offense in general so I really like the Seraphynx for giving me a little extra health and saving some time by walking through spikes unscathed. Mine's not even Ultimate yet. But I suppose that's my opinion. I've tried the others a little but never really got far with em.

I seem to use Seraphynx a lot more than the other two. Most likely due to the fact that I love to use the aura to just walk over traps.

Laser kitty!
I have a fully-leveled Seraphynx, and while I've been working on leveling up my Drakon, I always feel like I want to switch back to it. It's extremely hard to say no to on-demand extra hearts, and the shield makes for a great temporary get-out-of-jail-free card. The laser doesn't do much in practice, but it least it looks cool. (I know I shouldn't have gone for the Dazzling option, but I just hated those antennae.)

Definitive Tie
Seraphynx and Maskeraith are by far better than the Drakon. Though I enjoy my level 50 or so Seraphynx, Maskeraith is more fun to play with. I do tend to use Masker abilities less than Seraphynx abilities, though, but they are fairly even in my experience.

Been asking the same question
I've asked people about it and MOST of them prefer Maskeraith due to buff they gave in all of their ultimates when you fully evolved them,and also MAINLY because of how much they help everyone when battling Vana.
Seraphynx's Ultimate is sorta supportive and increase your survivality like for real tho, heart attacks with bomb/+drop defense orb,Barrier with either 2 great bonus,and not to mention that defense down beam,greatest beam to battle any big enemies.
Drakon is being looked down might be due to them not able to fulfill the support we need,but remember they DID say it's mainly offensive,thus giving them only great potential in solo gaming instead of team play most of the time, if you do it right tho,Drakon can overcome the other two.
other thing i could say is depends on situation, they cant be helpful all of the time.

I use all three battlesprites, and use drakon the most. It's really all about playstyles. I originally got seraphynx and have molded them into my speedrunning sets.
Long and short of it is that drakon is the worst on the surface, but has quite a number of tools that will assist different players. I see most top-tier players using drakon, and for good reasons too! The firebolt is a bit underwhelming, but pair it up with an appropriate harness and it's a burst damage of knockdown. The barrier can either be super high DPS, or a quick speed boost which is helpful for long hallways or speeding out of danger if you activate it in time. The firestorm is either a damage slap or a team buff with potential for flash charging, making fights like vanaduke go down much faster.
Seraphynx is a nice survivalist perk. It will keep you and your teammates alive, and it does that pretty well. The ray of light is a nice bonus, and has some pretty great uses for both large bosses, and pushing back groups of enemies with slower movement.
Maskeraith is definitely the top DPS sprite, however it's only as good as its user. I deal much more damage with my sprite (drakon) than a regular maskeraith user does simply because they never activate their skills... And I don't blame them, I hardly ever use my maskeraith skills when I have it equipped because the sprite aides your attacks, making them do more damage instead of doing damage outright.
... That being said, maskeraith quills are great at incapacitating targets and dealing massive damage to them should you already be attacking them. The cloak is a get-out-of-jail-free card along with a nice defensive boost should you time it right, and the haze is great at dealing with crowds when you can't control them as well.
So yeah... Maskeraith is a great starting sprite alongside the seraphynx. Oddly enough the drakon, like the cutter line of weapons, is only as good as their user, but if you're good with them you're pretty darn good at killing things with them.
I have a Maskeraith, which is great for boss fights like Vana (double charge attacks with the Deadly Cloak ability).
Other than that, I kind of wish I had a Drakon for the speed boost.
