Let us retrieve accessories for free, at the cost of them being bound.

It's a no-brainer. If the reason why accessory retrieval costs so much is to prevent devaluing of rare accessories by making them transient, let us retrieve them for personal use at no cost.

Of course, the accessory unbinding ticket would still be available for purchase. I just wanna take an accessory from an old costume and put it on a new, better one. Where's the harm in that?

hmm

Alternatively have the retrieval fee be something significantly less, something like 1% of the regular ticket value. You'd be paying 100 energy for an aura retrieval.

That might come at the cost of making bound accessories bind items you put them on to you, else a friend could take an aura off their tabard, put it on a hallow cloak, and then give you the hallow cloak when you'd then unbind the aura from.

Actually now that I say it like that I think I just found the reason why we can't do this...

i suggested this once because

i suggested this once because its extremly annoying i have some items lost in time that arent worth unbinding at all that arent rly easy to find (egg: low end promo acessories)

As Fangel said, yes that can be abused and it's not nice to have to live with it.

Or just...make accessory

Or just...make accessory bound to account? Instead of armor piece.

So to trade it with people you will have to unbind it. But you can freely slap it on any armor you have.

I kind of feel like we should be able to unbind accessories for free because we paid for them with real money at some point. If I go to the store and buy a new TV or something, I don't have to pay a massive fee to the TV company to resell it or give it away. Occasionally you have to pay taxes to the government for selling something, but that's mostly for stuff like houses or businesses, not MMO items, and the money you pay for that goes to a good cause....... ok the government just uses our money to bomb random countries but in theory, a good cause. IN THEORY. The unbind fee is just destroyed.. which does enable more purchases of energy to be made by way of supply/demand, but also you didn't get anything from it.

OK back on topic. Grey Havens has a monopoly on in game items for Spiral Knights, which means they can do whatever they want and those of us that want Spiral Knights related pixels have to deal with it. It would make more sense for them to see what they can get away with (See equinox boxes) than it would for them to play fair and let us unbind stuff.

With the addition of the style kit, I think it would be nice to have a way to transfer accessories between your costumes or armors. Like Fangel said, this is not possible with the old system even if re-applying the accessory would auto-bind the target item because then you would take an Aura off your costume item (costume items cannot be unbound) and put it on a 2* wolver coat (which can be unbound for 200 CE and sold with the Aura on it, after which the buyer could transfer it to his own costume).

Now with the style kit perhaps there could be a way to unlock the accessory on your account. You no longer own the physical item (similar to when you consume personal colors, height modifiers) but it is stored in your Style kit after which you can apply it freely to your armors and costumes. Many other games have this kind of wardrobe system where you can apply any unlocked accessory/skin to your armor freely or for a really small fee.

I very much believe that the sense of completion you get from unlocking stuff in the wardrobe will outweigh the current need for big spenders to own multiple accessories for different costumes and to spend on unbind tickets. When the Style kit was introduced, I immediately consumed 5 colors and went to purchase a height modifier from Vatel, which is 50k crowns I would not have spent otherwise because I already had an Xtra-tall modifier I wanted to keep. Similarly, I have accessories on my armors that I would like to replace but not destroy. I grew tired of them for now and want to get new accessories, but I will not spend 5-10k energy to unbind them and they are too valuable to destroy. So I end up spending nothing and stick with what I have. E.g. will I get shadow ankle and shoulder boosters for my snarbolax set when I already have Wicked boosters attached to it? No because it's a huge additional cost and I'd feel bad for essentially throwing away the wicked boosters I paid for in the past. Now if I get to store my wicked boosters and replace them with shadows, I would not feel bad since I am not wasting the money I spent on the wickeds. If anything this would make accessories and costumes increase in demand. In addition, this would also help solve the current problem of low-mid tier accessories and costumes. When accessories are unlocked rather than placed on items, nobody minds that they get a few fodder items from their prize boxes, because they can just unlock them for their own "wardrobe" and have the feeling they can at least use them some day in the future if a nice matching promo is released. And even if you do get a duplicate fodder item, they will be worth more because the market won't be as flooded with them because more people will want to have them unlocked.

As a bonus, you could even make a tiered achievement for "accessories unlocked"

Accessories transfer the bound state to any armor or helm they are placed on, then increase the cost of unbinding the armor/helm (if not costume) to original unbind cost + accessory unbind ticket cost. Each additional accessory increases the cost by 1 accessory unbind ticket, but only if the accessories are flagged with the "bound to player" state.

IIRC there is no option to unbind costumes, so attaching a bound accessory to a costume also binds the costume to you forever, unless you want to vendor it or something.

I agree, it should be easier to transfer accessories to other items
