as the title says, There is a scammer who is nammed in the screenshot below. They tricked me into trading them 4000 energy in order for them to unbind an aura i wanted. Silly mistake i know, but I really had my heart set out on that aura. If someone tries to ask money before giving you the item you want to trade for, dont do it. Call them out on it and warn others if they are being suspicious.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. But "naming and shaming" is against the Terms of Service. So you might want to remove the scammer's specific name. Best wishes.

He has done the same thing to

He has done the same thing to another person who I will not name. They tried to sell their Venomous Aura and after accepting the unbind ticket, logged off and tried to sell the unbind ticket later on the Auction House for 750K. They also tried to do the same thing to myself. Be wary of this person as they seem to be doing this to a lot of people.

Terms of service

Is that so? I understand the need to protect those who are innosent but it also protects legitamite theves and scam artists. I wish there was a mark that could be put on the account or IP adress that can warn people of previous offences. I had no idea this person had a reputation until it was too late. I'll remove the name, but the screenshot will stay so people know what to look out for.

yup

Naming and shaming is against the ToS. That being said, do send in a complaint about the knight. You can do so by typing /complain [knight name here] in-game. The closer to the time of the event, the more likely the game masters will be able to help you.

Hopefully you'll be able to get some help with this, but whenever doing a trade with someone for an unbind, always request that they unbind the item with their own money and that you'll pay for both unbind and the item afterward. If they are truly honest about wanting to sell the item, they'll be more than happy to do so.

Ahead of the game

Yes I did just that after the indecent happened in game after a few others instructed me to do so. I warned everyone in game and they let me know what to do. I really should have take the advice you stated to heart though. I knew something was amiss but i guess those rose tinted glasses I was wearing for the item I wanted obscured all the red flags i failed to recognize. I guess you can call me bitter about it too, but I wouldn't do this without good reason, though anyone could say that. If getting in trouble for calling this individual out saves another the experience I had it would be worth it in my book.

Always want to use the "buyer beware" mindset when going about trades. Asking big-name merchants about the fella will typically get you all the information you need since that kind of info spreads like wildfire among them.

Thanks for the info. Defiantly not going to let that happen again.

Another thing you can do to

Another thing you can do to avoid this is ask for collateral worth at least the unbind value. That way if they do decide to dip with your CE you have something to mitigate the loss.

If they can't afford the unbind or any kind of collateral whatsoever then you have to research the players trade history and reputation.

Still there

Just saw this person in game today so unless the ban for scamming is only 4 days or he didnt get banned at all. Isn't this a serious issue? or do bans take time to be given out?

If you're asking if you should trade real money with another person for in game money, that's against the Terms of Service. Doing so will result in the permanent ban of your accounts. This is not something we tolerate under any conditions as it hurts our company and thus the ability to operate the game.

for real money no

Do not exchange money for crowns or energy outside of the game or official game channels (such as Steam Trading should you use that - however that's trading for Steam items, not money). Often times, those places may act as scammers and take your money/steam items/teddy bear you had since you were a baby and run off with it. On top of that is the whole "breaking the Terms of Service" bit that Cronus stated above, as going around the official channels prevents money from going into the game and helping the game grow and stay active.
