So back in the Mist Energy elevator cost days of yore there was an elevator pass that essentially removed the thing that halted progression for a month: that being Mist Energy.
With the removal of ME and the introduction of the Forge, no such item exists.
So I'm suggesting something that's probably been suggested many times before, but no matter.

Forge Passes!
It'd probably cost ~$5-10 worth of energy and last for a month, and it lets you level up gear like previously, essentially the elevator pass's replacement.
Good idea? Horrible idea? What do you think?

probably not a revert

I'd say simply bypass the fire crystal requirements or make all forging values 100%.

Perhaps it could give you something like 15 fire crystals of every type daily as well, or at least boost drop rates (or double any that you pick up).

Issue with the forge isn't really the forge, it's more the crystals involved.

possibly

Maybe an "Overheat Pass" that guarantees that the forging succeeds on any fire crystal level for however long?
In terms of daily crystals, maybe they could be tied to prestige missions? For example, completing missions on day 1 gives you 3 crystals each, if you did a mission on day 1 day 2 gives you 6 each, day 3 gives you 9 each etc. Prestige missions are so utterly useless that they really need something to give an incentive.

This is a nice idea but this would be quite the game changer for those that have it. It would be very similar to a fast track pass, allowing those that have it to completely bypass a core element of the game.

Crystals should be more abundant in the first place. What we need is an increase in drop rate, preferably in the arcade but where it's done hardly matters. It's aggravating being unable to level up your equipment due to the lack of crystals dropping. The forge itself was introduced to slow progression since the removal of mist energy but making crystals scarce is a very bad way of doing it since the people that need radiants are already end game.

What about rarities booster,

What about rarities booster, that triples all rarities from treasure boxes. They had to replace elevator pass by it. It's not pay to win, it's pay to less grind.

"allowing those that have it to completely bypass a core element of the game."
Isn't that essentially what elevator passes used to do? They removed the restriction on how many levels you could complete by making the elevators free.

Ogygus
That could work, but honestly they just need to make radiants more common. Like everyone's been saying for forever now.

Currently it costs around 20 dollars to heat an item with radiant fire crystals bought from the shop.

Perhaps this could cost around 200 dollars for a month? That would make it cheaper than buying into radiant crystals only if you heat more than 10 items. I know that's out of reach for most people, but Spiral Knights doesn't really cater to them anyway, beyond being "free".

Another idea would be to just let paid weapons heat without crystals. Paid weapons being those bought from the supply depot or unboxed from prize boxes.

no.

I get that the first thing is kind of trying to be sarcastic but no. $10 max.
Side note: radiants are still overpriced

Not sarcasm, I'm doing the math and speaking from experience. Spiral Knights is a very expensive game, and I don't see why this would be any different. I get that you want it cheap. As a paying player I want them to reduce prices too and make the game less very expensive. That would be nice.. but will they? I just don't see why they would do that. People tend to either pay a monstrous amount or nothing at all. Middle ground doesn't seem like a very smart strategy when you know exactly the kind of person who would want this enough to pay.

just... no.

If they did make a forge pass that costed $200 for a month then there would be like 6 people that'd buy it and nobody else would.
I bet you if there was a forge pass that costed $10 there would be more than 120 people that'd buy it (so they'd be making money).

Here's a question: if the forge pass DID cost $200 for a month: would you buy it?

Yes, I'd save up all the promos and then once a year or so I'd buy one and heat everything. It would also enable me to get all of the gunner armors and heat them too. It's OK to play a cheaper game if SK is too expensive for you. That's what most people do.

Technically, you're just making it expensive for yourself. You can drop $300 on a game and get all the best stuff immediately or you can spend maybe $50 on it to have an easier time getting through.
The thing is, you shouldn't have to pay $300 to have an easier time getting through or pay $1000 to get the best stuff immediately.
Like I said, sure, you'll buy it, maybe some other people might buy it, but the vast majority of people who just want to play the game normally without having to spend vast sums of money (e.g. me) would never, EVER buy a $200 item.

You shouldn't have to pay 400 to 500 dollars to get mixmasters etc. and yet you do. We've been asking them to change this for a while now, and they clearly see things differently. That's what I'm trying to explain to you, that from their perspective this offer isn't a good idea.

I think a better idea to solve the forge problem is to remove fire crystals entirely and make gear level up twice/thrice as slow, heat boosters will actually be worth something. Or the fire crystals can stay and other than being an essential element for forging they're just used to speed it up like offering double level ups, additional heat and forge prize boxes and the chance increases with every fire crystal you "feed" your weapon before leveling up and they can become a bit rarer to be actually worth their price. Your idea is good too but it should be relatively cheap (the same price of a heat booster that lasts the same amount of time is fine) also I agree that you shouldn't pay as much as Fehzor said on a booster, that's just ridiculous, it's not a rare item, it's just a booster. Also on the paid weapons not requiring fire crystals, just "NO." it's really unfair to offer a higher ground for the paying players since it's a F2P game, if you wanna go P2W then just buy the fire crystals.
