I also want sleep-themed overtimers that can put out triple-sized mender bubbles.

hmmm

Why not have them always shielded from all sides?
Oh and they appear sometimes in place of normal Greavers, even in arenas.

Naw I'm serious the goal isn't just to be ridiculously hard but to be so in a way that's fair and beatable. The front facing shield would be good because there would be 2 ways to beat it-

1.) Teamwork = it attack me, you blitz it to death; people are saying SK has potential well that potential is frontal shield curse grievers.

2.) Shivermist buster or torpor tantrum = you drop that, run past it, they go to sleep, you can blitz.

3.) Ice barrier pickup, which is limited and RNG based = a bad solution but one that's available

A very well balanced, yet very challenging, enemy if you ask me. Would open up a LOT of level design.

oh ok

This sounded like a joke thread.

Anyway, are you suggesting random curse levels with these sorts of enemies in them and such?
That would make having 2 people on the team actually useful, so that's pretty cool.

The idea came from uFSC, where I pointed out that the level design was lacking.

In Puzzle and Dragons, levels are formatted by floors, where each encounter is a test. For instance-

Floor 1 = can the player hit a ton of small enemies?
Floor 2 = can the player deal X amount of single target damage?
Floor 3 = can the player overcome this defense barrier?
Floor 4 = Boss fight

Or something like that. uFSC plays out like this-

Floor 1 = Can the player handle wheel traps and trojans/deadnauts?
Floor 2 = Can the player handle trojans/deadnauts in 3 new areas?
Floor 3 = Ok but what about if we add in zombies? 3 more times? Ok..
Floor 4 = Ok same as floor 3 lets get em this time? No? They can still do deadnaut+trojan?
It's the same test, over and over again, which makes for a boring experience.

So I thought to myself, what if we introduced a new enemy here- the shielded grievers? We'd start them slowly on D25's replacement, and then make them more prevalent as time goes on. This would make for an interesting dynamic and would quickly build into some very painful scenarios that would put uFSC back on top as the hardest shadow lair- plus they could add some prize boxes to it to justify the changes.

Remember, don't shoot food.

I think that they should only have their shield out when preparing to attack you, because otherwise I'm pretty sure it would be almost impossible to defeat one without taking damage if you don't have a bomb or a teammate.

Why not add some curse weapons too

If you're gonna add some curse themed enemies add more curse themed weapons and it better not be another goddamn promo, I find a bomb great as we have a sword already and a curse gun will be ridiculously unbalanced in both PvE and LD I suggest a bomb NOT a haze nor a blast, maybe slap it on that graviton without the need to create a new bomb cause I absolutely love how graviton looks but... I just can't use it, would absolutely give it a use and give some of those poor pure bombers a buff (cause I don't think swordies or gunners will make use of curse from a vortex bomb anyways).
Back on the topic I don't think making curse themed greavers with front facing shields is exactly a good idea even for a bomber just thinking about it makes me uncomfortable, like EXTREMELY uncomfortable... The game can use some more curse enemies too IMO but greavers is an ABSOLUTELY bad idea, think about curse scarabs maybe also curse themed alpha wolvers.

The idea is less "How can we make fodder for the knight?" and more "How can we drive fear into the knight's heart?" I just don't think a curse themed wolver or letting the griever's shield go down would achieve that goal very well. I want the knights to split up to take on D25 and die one by one as they attempt to fight a single frontal shield curse griever.

Oh!

You mean something like gold monsters? I never really fought them but I read about them on the wiki, I don't think it's a good idea to have those or something similar like a curse themed greaver WITH A FRONT FACING SHIELD but if that happens I think it'd be pretty easy to deal with with maskeraith's shadow cloak and a flourish or a callahan maybe a blitz or if you're skilled enough to know when to dash to lose agro maybe for bombers it'd be easier with shards or vortexes... It's just that making one sounds like a bad idea, like why would you make this unless you make it appear in herds which would be easy to deal with with shard bombs I think but for most other weapons that'd be pretty frustrating... I still vote for curse scarabs at vana SL and graveyards just to make curse resistance something which is a bit more uh useful and maybe make mad bomber have something to stand out against chaos with for bombers we also need some more sleep themed enemies or just make slooms more common like put them in ice queen or something. If you just want something that kills everyone in the party just put a couple of rocket puppies in a long path that they can only kill them with facing them maybe make it 12 tiles long so they can spot you from afar. I think it's a good idea to add traps or change the way a room looks rather than adding new enemies with different mechanics (that shield) which is what SL's do in a good way IMO.

bad id

bad idea FEHZOR

guns are already OP so why would you make my sword useless when greavers swarm me I mean think of it this way I'm on an arena minding my own business wearing my chaos/ssb when suddenly 10 greavers with frontfacing shields surround me you think that's fair for us swordies

a better idea would be greavers with frontfacing shields with an AI that makes them fly towards gunslingers with an extra focus on knights who have a mixmaster equipped
