Gremlin Demo's bomb "shedding"

What's the deal with bombers throwing off 2 to 3 bombs every second or two when they're shocked/in shock haze or slept via vial or Torpor? This makes it impossible to get close to them without being blown into bits and makes Gremlin arenas even more harsh if you depend on these status effects to aid you in advancing in arcade.
I'm just currently leveling two shock weapons and I have Torpor as one of my main weapons and the floor just got blinded by bombs making nothing visible at all, and making it insanely hard to survive in a situation like this, such as being in a gremlin arena.

This sort of thing confuses me and I don't understand why Demo's would be the only ones to continue attacking even after they're slept and drop bombs continuously throughout their period of being slept, which is far more than what they would have planted on the ground if they were awake.

Do they drop bombs when damaged? Is that why they shed a load of you trap them in a shock haze? I still don't see what that has to do with being slept or if the bomb shedding while slept is some sort of unintentional bug that was just left in the game as a function or some issue with the passive sleep healing.

I've never used any other weapons that inflict the rest of the status effects on Demo's, so I don't know how they react to fire/curse/freeze.

Demos drop bombs when hit, yes. If I had to hazard a guess about the haze bombs, I would say they spaz out because haze bombs "attack" with multiple, non-damaging "ticks" for a chance at applying their status inside the cloud. Each one of those "ticks" registers a hit and, even though no damage is being done, it is still telling the demo, "hey, you're under attack. Spread the bombs."

Yeah, that seems to explain it well, I'll see more later on.

Gremlins bleeding literal explosives would not surprise me.

The weird part in all this is that the bombs dropped when taking damage realistically should not even be primed to detonate. It is fairly visible on the Gremlin Demo that the bombs in his backpack are not wound up in advance: the wind-up keys are even stored on the sides, separately from the bombs.

...or perhaps demos hide excess spares in their sleeves or something along the idea. It is not as subtle as Gremlins usually would showcase, but they surely would go the extra length to spite knights in combat.

If hit or has a status effect drop bomb.

That's probably the gist of the code responsible for the bomb shedding issue. I do think it's silly that they do it while statused though, since when the knight is under shock it makes it more difficult to charge up a bomb.
