For a few crowns or a bit of Energy you can change between gates at the start of tier 2 and 3 (means at Emberlight too), either to avoid unwanted levels or to chain together your perfect run to the core.

It doesnt need to have anything fancy nor does Emberlight need to have its own station, maybe npcs or vending machines somewhere.
The station at moorcroft's has those convinient marked areas on the floor too.

Maybe if you do a boss on every tier you could get a nice reward at the end.

Remember, don't shoot food.

So are you saying you want to switch to another gate? Because you can already do that for free.

If you're saying change stratums within a gate (presumably only for your party), then maybe...? It should probably operate similar to old gate building (minus getting crowns for minerals) instead of giving up some crowns or energy.

Yes, I mean within the gate.

Yes, I mean within the gate. And the payment could be either CR, energy, materials or crystals.
The neat thing would be doing boss runs.

but...

But... just switch gate...

Just get to MM/Emberlight and swap to the gate you want to play for the next tier. Simple

Maybe as some kind of Quality of Life change??

There's no reason to pay to switch gates, since you can just open the arcade screen where ever you are (even Mid-LeveL!) and switch gates from there.

The only reason they would add some special function to switch gates at hub levels would be to save players the one loading screen they'd go through to change hubs between gates.

You would be able to keep

You would be able to keep extra life pips, consumables etc, plus a reward or something for having chained different gates together in a specific way - thats what i'm aiming for. I am aware i can just switch gates - i think i'm just not good at explaining things, sorry.

EDIT: So 3 bosses in 1 run to the core - WITHOUT leaving the arcade (or manualy selecting another gate in the menu) = some reward - therefore changing gates at subhubs is what i suggest

er

This doesn't really have any practical application other than looking at the loot you gained at the very end.

I'd just like being able to

I'd just like being able to keep consumables, especially things like vitapods and ranger flares.

and again... if it was possible to add some mechanic that rewards you for changing gates at the station - not leaving the run - and chaining together some special combination of the current gates up to the core would be great.

Random idea:

There is a reward for clearing 9 full arenas in a single run but each gate only has 3 concentrated in one tier. As opposed to leaving the run trough the menu - where i could in theory stop by in haven and buy more sparks of life in between tiers and therefore it would not be a single run - you can switch tiers at moorcroft and emberlight for a small fee of crowns or blue/green crystals or materials or even free, making the game a little bit more interesting.

Next reward is for clearing 3 bosses in one run to the core.

Another rewards you for clearing a set amount of compounds in a set time in one run.

Etc, etc..

We are old enough to not need to bottleneck gate accesses.

Earlier in the beta, subtowns were much more similar to the Arcade in Haven, so the suggested idea is somewhat just as subtowns functioned at the time. I will take the liberty of providing evidences here and here.

Nick discussed the change during beta as well. I will direct to this post, although now would be a good time to discuss wheter or not the reasons for the change are retained with the same relevance to this day.

.

Wow, I didn't know such a change was once made.

Still, giving players more options on how to travel through the arcade and more optional goals, would be neat. No need to revert them back to "secondary havens".

I should probably edit the title.
