Hmm...

Just to ask, what programs have you used to make it? I'll present the list of questions in order...

1. What hardware was used? Was it strong enough?
2. Which programs were used to create that?
3. Was it in the form of 2D pixel art? Or was it all 3D modelling & texturing?
4. Which DAW did you used to make the music?
5. Which coding language did you use to code it?
6. Was online remote work done to make it? I hear it's still being more commonplace to any industry today.
7. What art creation programs did you use? Was it Clip Studio Paint Pro or EX? Affinity Photo? Affinity Designer? Heard Affinity Photo's a really good Photoshop replacement, worth making really good textures on it to game development. CSP EX has great traditional cel animation features that make good use of doing hand-drawn frame-by-frame animations with no need to use Adobe Animate.
8. Was the game development a team effort or a solo thing?
9. Which post-production program did you use to do post-production on it? Hitfilm Express? Best post-production and special effects making program on the market today. Pro does more, too.
10. Were you using a graphics or monitor tablet? If not, I'd get one.

Please take your time to answer those questions.

That's a lot of questions!

  1. I used various computers. It's all in an intrerpreted language, so your computer doesn't need to be any stronger than that it can run the game.
  2. I usually edit with Vim. The heavy 3D lifting was done by ThreeJS. Some build tools were used to, with the full stack mostly available in my package.json.
  3. Game is full 3D. Most of the geometry was procedurally generated and the textures either procedurally generated or handdrawn in GraphicsGale. The player avatar was made by a friend, listed in the game's credits.
  4. I didn't make the music. It's listed in the game's credits, but the song is Poppy Flower Girls, released as public domain by Drozerix.
  5. Coffeescript, a compile-to-javascript language. I'm proficient in regular javascript, but I enjoy CS' significant whitespace.
  6. Not really, but I used Github for version control.
  7. GraphicsGale for the fonts and textures. It's freeware now, but I paid $30 for it a few years ago. The artist who made the model used Blender, I believe.
  8. Mostly solo, but I continously linked friends to the game during development to get invaluable testing feedback.
  9. I don't think I used any post-production? What does that even mean for a game?
  10. No.

OK.

Well, to answer your question in your ninth answer...

If needed to make amazing FMVs in any game that requires plot points in the storyline, like, say, interludes where the main villain's secretly watching the hero's every move and plots to hinder the hero at every corner while the villain's evil scheme gets closer to being completed, for instance, post-production is necessary to apply amazing finishing touches in a video project, like making custom made special effects, particles, etc., then applying them to the videos, be it placing 2D digital hand-drawn animation GIFs from CSP EX, or even 3D through models made with Blender.

Doing it takes many steps & adjustments to get that done, but, that's worth it to give them the best polish and quality seen on many TV shows & movies they deserve.

I'm gonna guess you haven't used a post-production program before. That's OK. HitFilm Express sounds like a neat program to do post-production. If you're up to it, there's video tutorials to get you started. No rush.

D'oh! Almost forgot one last question. How long has the game been in development? Just asking you this last question. That's it.

A pleasant puzzle game

Your game took me good few hours to finish. I had to think really hard to figure out some levels, especially the last ones, hehe. At the end I've found the highscores and had single level with a star: level 15 with under 30 moves (and I spent quite some trying to break that level). So I tried to optimize it a bit and came with 22 moves. Honestly, my head hurts a bit now, after all that thinking and planning.

Thanks for sharing your game!

Bit over a month. I started in the former half of December and only just finished it.
