we currently have 3 autoguns that do peirce damage (blitz needle, plague needle, and spiral soaker), one that does normal damage (volcanic pepperbox), and one that does shadow damage (grim repeater). it only stands to reason that they should implement one that does elemental damage. i recommend having the skin look like the black chaingun, but green.
An elemental type autogun
For a long time I have believed the Volcanic Pepperbox to be a natural fit for this direction. Surely this could give way to a more streamlined alchemy path for the Autogun that allows full focus on normal damage output while we are at it.
Asymmetrical design was used in Spiral Knights to force the player to branch out more and provide more interesting options. It's dangerous to allow such a powerful weapon to come in every variant because it could quite easily become most of what people use, and when everyone adopts the meta it's super boring. Blitz and grim repeater already kind of are universally the best of the best, and are already used more often than not when it comes to it.
Vanaduke? Twin Snarbolaxes? Maulos? Blitz noodle.
Jelly King? Seerus? Grim repeater.
Big Iron? Red Roarmulus Twins? This new elemental variant.
On another note we really need more sword and bomb variants. There are literally like twice as many guns as swords or bombs. Sword/bomb update when?
agreed. we definitely need more bombs and swords.
I feel like the mixmaster/orbitgun is supposed to fill this role. It does similar things, but it really needs to have a F2P variant that's craftable.
And while we're at it we can add a piercing brandish, same damage as the Acheron to make it balanced. We need to make sure every type of weapon covers every single damage type.
I'd rather not have a direct reskin of the Chaingun. That's boring.
Maybe a leafblower-type device instead, that shoots leaf bullets.
