Way too many times I have looked at a helmet and armor combination and have been like "Wow! These'll look great together." Only to be wildly disappointed that a certain pointy bit or collar clips through the other pieces horribly. And you could say "Oh well those pieces aren't in the same set. They weren't made with each other in mind." And I would say "Sure that's a valid point. But wouldn't it be nice if there were certain parts of the armor you could toggle on and off to make them fit? Yeah it would."

Some armor pieces that are in the same set don't even work with each other. Mainly the Mercurial Demo Set comes to mind. The headpiece is way too big for the body, which is just a reskin of the standard bomber attire with Tesla coils slapped on, which was a poor decision to make. That inner collar clips so badly with the helmet and, for me at least, ruins a good looking set.

A lot of accessories also clip but it's only slightly.

My suggested fix? Add an option to make certain pieces on armors and cosmetics toggle-able. I don't feel like the models have to change either, just certain textures should be able to be made transparent.

As always, discuss in the replies.

Just use costumes and add accessories to mimic a certain item like attaching a mohawk to a spiral demo helm to get a mad bomber mask with a different color theme, or attach prismatic pylons to an armor other than mercurial demo mail to look like you’re a walking tesla without having the appearance of mercurial demo mail that you don’t like, etc... I’m sick of people who keep saying “wish we had *insert something already implanted into the game but in a slightly different form*” + with something like this in a game like this where the devs are busy with their lives and don’t have the time to code this stuff, I think they’d either leave it or remove and a lot of people like the items’ appearances as they are so just deleting them because some players don’t like them would suck but the ability to toggle certain aspects is rarther complicated.

Okay, one, calm down and take

Okay, one, calm down and take your butthurtedness somewhere else. Two, too bad all of the cosmetics are wildly overpriced. To put together some of these sets would be so expensive. And three, these developers get paid to develop for the game. Hence the title "DEVELOPer". I don't know where you were going with the whole "b-but their personal lives" spiel. And then you started to break down and you became incoherent. No offense but I only want constructive criticism.

Your solution doesn't work in all cases but making things toggleable does.

Isn't the point of costumes and accessories to be expensive to put some money in the game? Or am I missing something here? In a F2P game the main purpose is progression and gear, cosmetics are always 2nd place, you don't really need them, you WANT them, which is why they're expensive. The main point of them is draining your money so you can look fabulous.

The problem with saying "don't ask too much of the devs" is that we don't know the extent of their abilities at the moment. Thus it's irrational to limit your suggestions in any way, shape, or form.
Also, toggling the appearances of items like armors, etc is in no way complicated. For example, if you were to add a Chaos Cloak reskin that didn't have a collar, you could literally just go to gear/armor/poncho and make a mage_drk_nocollar.png file. And then add an option to change the skin from mage_drk to mage_drk_nocollar at will, just like you can go into the modelviewer and change the magic cloak skin to the gunslinger sash skin with the click of a button.

I don't think that toggleable armor options are a bad idea, and tbh prismatic pylons are incredibly rare. It's not fair to say "just get some" when there's maybe five total unbound Pylon tickets in players' inventories across the board. Yes, the game is p2p for fashion, but that doesn't mean you have to milk fashion like todd howard milks skyrim. Our gembox-spam era is over.

Ima have to agree with Tom Although I don't run into the problem of clipping such a small thing like this wouldn't hurt the game even a little bit this is a such a small detail that could go along way and could probably even get more people to buy things, customization in a game is always welcomed.
