Well I never thought I'd see the day I was posting here again.
I bet you all missed me as much as I missed you all, and I missed this place enough to spend 10 minutes trying to get my Steam credentials to work on the website (side note: the Steam credentials only let me log in through the Steam browser, attempting to do so through Chrome or Firefox just tells me there is no such user. But clearly I'm here so what the hell, Drupal.) That's a lot more time than I've dedicated to SK in recent months, so needless to say I missed you all a whole lot.
So, I logged on recently after perfecting my family's secret fudge recipe, and being so proud of this achievement, I decided I wanted to share this information with the world! I messaged everyone I saw that was on with the full recipe, and decided I would share this info with my guild as well, along with the recipe so that I could spread the deliciousness of homemade fudge with one and all. As I was typing the ingredients out though, I came to realize that the MoTD would not let me put the word "butter" into the field.
Yes, "butter". It ain't allowed, yo.
Are you telling me that I am limited to how I can share my love for homemade delicacies in a game that even has characters named after various baked goods? Biscotti would be so disappointed and now I am worried that if I use either of my Great Cleavers I'm going to get in trouble for some anti-baking shenanigans. Think of the butter bots you're neglecting by blacklisting "butter" from the MoTD!
ANYWAY.
At this point I would be remiss if I did not also include the fudge recipe here... Please feel free to share this with your friends, because it is amazing.
Ingredients:
2 sticks butter (not margarine, has to be butter!)
1 16 oz. box of confectioner's sugar
2 tbsp of cocoa powder
2 tbsp chunky peanut butter
1 tsp of vanilla extract
Cooking items/utensils:
1 double-boiler (for mixing and cooking everything together)
1 medium-sized sauce pan (glass casserole dish also works)
1 wisk/fork/something to mix things well (I do not recommend an electric mixer of any kind, the peanut butter will gum it up)
1 sheet of wax paper/parchment paper/aluminum foil
Set stovetop to low-medium heat, put in the 2 sticks of butter, allow them to melt first. Then, add sugar and stir til the sugar and butter are blended well. Add the 1 tsp of vanilla, stir in until well-blended. At this point, it should look closer to a homemade icing than anything else (it can also be used as that, goes great with homemade cinnamon rolls and cakes).
Add the peanut butter and stir for 2-3 minutes. At this point, add the cocoa powder slowly (one tbsp, mix, then other tbsp, mix again). Your mix should look similar to milk chocolate (just a shade lighter than a Hershey's milk chocolate bar). You can taste-test at this part, and add additional ingredients to suit your preference but I find that this is a pretty good balance for the fudge itself. Adding too much sugar will make it granulated and crumbly, and adding too much peanut butter or cocoa will make it too rich, so a little goes a long way here! Remove the pot from heat, mix everything together one last time, and let set for 10 minutes.
While it is setting, get a glass square baking dish of your choice and spray with cooking spray to keep the fudge from sticking to the dish while it cools. Pour the mix into your glass dish, then place the parchment/wax paper on top and use it to spread your fudge around through and get any air bubbles out. Place in fridge for 20-30 minutes, then take it out AND CUT into squares - if you let it get too solid in the fridge it will be pretty difficult to cut later. At this point you can either leave it in the glass dish or place it in a container of your choice. It doesn't need to stay refrigerated but I find it helps keep the flavor longer and keeps them from falling apart as fast.
It's pretty simple for a family recipe but I hope that if you guys do make it, that you and your family enjoy it. I know I am.
Thank you and your family for existing
