it'll show the default, charging and charge attack animations when inspecting someone (or checking your own inventory)
I've only seen it on Mixmaster and Caladbolg but Buccaneer Broadsider probably has it too.

Correct me if I'm wrong; I think that special gear animations are now shown when viewing your own equipment or inspecting another knight.
it's a gear animation
and it's special
hence the name a special gear animation
