i say we take these two 1 star bombs as they are and buff them into 4 star tier
then their recipes could be obtained either through story missions or buying them at hall of heroes / basil

so, you think that bombs that deal elemental damage over a single tile but leave a status cloud that always deals status is equal to a bomb that deals normal damage over a wide range and has a chance to deal status?
explain yourself
The thing is that those bombs are supposed to be early game, and the idea behind them is basically "deal some damage + inflict status". The natural continuation IS the haze bombs which are "(maybe) deal some damage + inflict status". Kinda like how the alchemers are more or less the natural upgrade to the frost gun + zapper.
Plus, why exactly do you need them to be 4 star in the first place? We have other bombs that do status (haze bombs) and other bombs that do normal damage over a wide range (blast bombs).

you're going completely off charts, fam.
the alchemers are unique class of guns independent of the likes of zapper. the weapons that are a "natural continuation" to something, usually exhibit the same function (or something very close to it but do not betray the original design completely) as the previous weapon. for example, Punch Gun and Iron Slug, Static Edge and Voltedge.

honestly, it's not about me "needing" there, its more about how they are objectively better there.
if the Cold Snap and Firecracker were supposed to introduce people to bombing, then they are doing a bad job at it. this is because bombs at tier 1 are completely useless and are obsolete by almost anything, their range is too small to matter and newbies are more likely to go for guns and swords. like seriously, how many people remember the proto bomb?
now, if these were 4 star bombs, they would see more use because bombs actually count in tier 3.
And maybe I just don't like the haze bombs that much.

Well, taking the alchemer example, they're basically those guns with 1 less shot and some extra damage. So basically a heavier version of the guns (that are intended to deal out pretty good damage and inflict statuses). So yeah, I would actually still say they're the intended "next step".

That's a really good point. I believe there used to be a mission that introduces people to how bombs work, where you also got the Proto Bomb, but they got rid of it for some reason. I get the reason why the blast radius gets bigger as the star level increases (to make them more powerful) but it's WAAAAAAAAY too small for early bombs.
I'd say a better way to introduce newer players to bombs is to 1. bring back the bomb intro mission, 2. have the next mission feature more clumps of enemies (minis maybe) so people understand where bombs are helpful and 3. just make early game bombs have a larger radius.
But I still don't really know why you'd make cold snap + firecracker 4* since they probably wouldn't be particularly useful (maybe as side grades to the blast bomb, so instead of damage type side grades like blasters it's status side grades?).
(Also I guess I technically remember the proto bomb because I opened my inventory and the proto bomb was in it so yeah :P)

Yes, gimme those sweet status Nitronomes why not 5* too. Think it's good enough that they have a good chance to inflict moderate status. I want the shock one as well. Maybe they can deal elemental instead of normal damage.
@Zero-Chill
> why not 5* too
I simply feel as though the balancing factor for these would be the fact that they are stuck at 4 stars, therefore they wouldn't be able to exceed/overpower the Nitronome in terms of power/knockback or the Haze bombs in terms of spreading status. In general, I feel they should be fine in 4 star without much modifications besides giving them standard 4 star bomb range and a reasonable damage table (less than the master blast bomb).
As for Static Flash, that bomb is part of the Deluxe Starter Pack, so we can't really change it.

What I mean is the game-play style is completely different.
> Bombs in tier 1
Honestly, I feel as though new players should just immediately work towards 2 star bombs. There is no 1 star Hall of Heroes, most 1 star weapons are just dead ends, and the damage difference between 0 stars and 1 stars isn't all that great. Especially for a weapon that's entirely dependent on a charge attack. Proto bomb should be enough for tier 1, maybe make it 1 star from the get-go and hand that out to players.
And yeah, I agree there should be a better introduction for bombs.

Yeah, that's kind of the point. ^^

lol, it's just an opinion, man. no harm meant. The Haze Bombs are good bombs and great at what they do, but personally I lean towards Blast bombs (my Spike Shower and Master Blast Bomb are the only bombs I like to use). I often solo with two weapons slots, so Blast bomb's knockback and the ability to deal damage is quite useful to me.
Please yes
I would also be okay if they were shard bombs.
I recently tried out the firecracker for lolz and realized how fun it was to have a medium damage blast bomb that dealt a status.
Yeet.
whew lol, i'm late but still
I think we should get both status shard bombs and status blast bomb.
According to the wiki, in the current end-game arsenal, there is 3 swords and 3 guns (+ 1 mixer clone behind a paywall) that deal fire with varying styles, but there is only 1 bomb that deals fire (and one bomb behind an RNG paywall). Similarly, there is 3 styles of guns and 2 styles of swords that deal freeze, but only 1 bomb that deals freeze. So, adding more status bombs seems okay to me.
Fire and Freeze shard bombs could do specialized damage along with their status and go up to 5*.
Firecracker and Cold Snap at 4* would stay true to the blast bomb style with knock-back and normal damage.
either ways, as long as we're getting a different style of fire and freeze bombs that can be used offensively it's +1 from me.
For the shard bombs, I'd assume it'd be a branch off of the Crystal Bomb that deals fire + extra undead damage or something, and a branch off of the normal Shard Bomb that deals freeze? (Something like that)
I'd say that Firecracker and Cold Snap themselves should stay 1* because they're already there, but there should be branches off of the blast bomb line (e.g. blast bomb > chilling blast bomb > freezing blast bomb > insert name here).
that's fine, I would be okay with that.
but still, personally, I don't see why we can't just adjust existing content that is underused or not very popular. like, instead of making two new lines of shard bombs, why not make the Sun Shards line deal fire instead of stun and just add a new freeze/elemental shard bomb? similarly, why make two new lines of blast bombs when you can just buff Firecracker and Cold Snap to 4* and buff Proto Bomb to 1* in their place?
but, yeah, whatever works best I guess.
